Lustre Girls Drop Two in Scobey

The Lustre Christian girls basketball team dropped both their games at the Scobey Invitational this past weekend. The Lions lost 53-31 to the Fairview Warriors on Friday before falling 60-31 to the Plentywood Wildcats Saturday.

Fairview took a 17-6 lead after one quarter Friday and led 24-24 at the half. Lustre trailed 40-21 after three quarters.

Alexa Reddig led the Lions in points with 20, hitting a three-pointer and going 5-for-7 at the free throw line. Aubri Holzrichter added 7 points, hitting a shot from downtown and Grace Brown hit for 5 points with two field goals and a free throw.

Lustre had 12 fouls in the game. Reddig and Brown were each called for four while Holzrichter had three and Abby Olfert one infraction.

The Lions faced a slow offensive start Saturday, allowing Plentywood to take a 21-0 lead after eight minutes of play. The Wildcats doubled their score before the half while holding the Lions to 7 points. Lustre was outscored 11-7 in the third quarter but surged in the final eight minutes with 17 points. However, Plentywood scored 7 in the same frame for the win.

Reddig had 14 points for Lustre, hitting a trey and going 3-for-6 at the charity stripe. Brown hit for 9 points including a three-pointer and 2-for-2 shooting at the line. Holzrichter added 8 points with two threes and a field goal.

Lustre held their fouls to seven in the game, just one in the second half. Brown was called for four, Holzrichter two and Reddig one.

Lustre Christian hosts the Nashua Porcupines Friday, Dec. 16, with games beginning at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, the Lions travel to Culbertson for a 2:30 p.m. tip off. Monday, Dec. 19, they host Bainville with games beginning at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 20, the team is back in Scobey to play the Spartans at 4:30 p.m.
