Glasgow Speech and Drama Place Four At AA Meet

The Glasgow Speech and Drama team attended the Billings Lockwood Invitational, an AA Meet, on Nov. 5, where Glasgow competed against Billings Central, Huntley Project. Laurel, Sidney, Roundup, Culbertson, Wolf Point, Harlowtown, Park, Havre, Shepherd, Baker, Columbus, Forsyth, Custer, Dawson, Fergus, Joliet, Lockwood and Scobey. Six students made the trip with Gabe Proctor participating in HOI, Samantha Combs in Dramatic Solo, Harley Edwards in Dramatic Solo, Caith Overbey and Mirax Lipscomb in Humorous Theater and Chase Tarum in HOI.

Four students took home placings with Proctor taking fourth, Overbey and Lipscomb taking eighth and Harley Edwards taking fifth.

“Caith and Mirax performed for their first time as freshmen and made finals, which is exceptional!,” stated co-head coach Carla Swenson. “Chase also did very well for just learning his piece!”

Swenson also stated Proctor has almost fully memorized his piece and is now at the point of working on parts of the piece that went well during the meet. He is also evaluating what parts didn’t go well, by cutting and adding from the original piece to create his current piece.

The students will travel to Miles City for the Miles City Invitational on Nov. 12.
