Serving Proudly As The Voice Of Valley County Since 1913

Kareen Kay Nicol

Until we meet again...

Kareen Kay Nicol, 73, died peacefully 5th October, 2022, surrounded by loved ones.

A memorial service will be held in the summer of 2023.

Kareen was born 22nd December 1949, in Bismarck, N.D., to Irene and James Anderson. She was third of seven siblings. She graduated from Wishek High School in 1967, Wishek, N.D. Kareen married the love of her life, William "Bill" Nicol on 24th May 1969. They built a home together in Glasgow, Mont., in the year 1975 where they raised their two children Michelle "Shelly" and Shane (Alyssa).

In the years to follow, Kareen was proud to work various jobs such as a beautician, an AVCO link line assembler, a brass primer machinist, First Security Bank bookkeeper, dispatcher for the Sheriff's Department, Valley Vet Clinic assistant to John Lee Brown, 17 years with the Northern Border Pipeline, certified Kurrent Konnection Reflexologist, and best of all, farm help to her adoring husband.

In contrast to work, Kareen's hobbies included bible studies, horseback riding, traveling, shopping and time spent outdoors. She also devoted 20 years in helping organize the Relay for Life Foundation and was instrumental in the development of the Flame of Hope.

Bill and Kareen became grandparents to Shane's two daughters, Hannah (Andrew) in 1996, and Kayla (Nathan) in 1998. Kareen spoiled "her girls" endlessly with all the love a grandma could give. Classy, witty, and unbelievably organized, she was the strength of her family and a constant source of comfort. Above all, Kareen was a radiant woman of God who spread His light with the warmth of her smile and the kindness of her actions. She will be sorely missed.

2 Timothy 4:7 – "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith."

Kareen was preceded by her parents James and Irene Anderson; sister Sharon Pool (Robert); brother Wayne; numerous aunts and uncles.

Kareen was survived by her husband William; their children; two grandchildren; brothers Jim (Beverly) and Gene; sisters Zoe Burns (Dale) and Wanda (Craig); numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
