Serving Proudly As The Voice Of Valley County Since 1913
After challenging their classmates during the month of May to donate change and dollar bills for the "Time For CHANGE, We Need A New Pool" competition to help raise funds for the Valley County Community Pool Campaign, the Glasgow Middle School's Builders Club was able to donate $1,417.91 to the cause.
Before the jugs went to the bank, they were weighed, with the eighth-grade jug weighing the most at 62.6 pounds, followed by the seventh grade jug weighing 37.8 pounds and the sixth-grade jug weighing 24.1 pounds. "These got so heavy we needed to put them on the cart!," stated co-advisor of the Builder's Club Laurie Enebo during the all school assembly on June 1.
After the jugs were dropped off to the bank to count the money, the eighth-grade class was crowned the winner raising $640.85 with the seventh-grade class in second grade earning $473.30 and the sixth-grade class raising $303.76.
"Since I have been a part of the Valley County Community Pool Campaign, these are the youngest donors we have had contribute to the cause. It's great to see the younger generation get involved," stated volunteer for the Valley County Pool Campaign Taylor Zerbe.
She later added, "The VALCO Pool Campaign is so excited to see a young generation that is excited to get involved and raise money for a community project that doesn't just impact them, but also future generations of swimmers! To see this group of compassionate kids have an idea and follow it through, and encouraging their classmates to join them, is a great example of the character of kids we want to be raising here in Glasgow!"
