Cherron Carleen Shipp

Cherron Carleen (Leonard) Sierts Shipp, 85, passed away on Thursday, May 12, 2022, in Great Falls, Mont.

Cremation has taken place, and she will be laid to rest in Glasgow, Mont.

Cherron was born on Jan. 26, 1937, in Glasgow, Mont., to Dale Leonard and Elenore Sierts. She was adopted and raised by her grandparents, Leona and John Clarence Sierts. She attended South Side Elementary and Glasgow High School. While living in Glasgow she met Nancy Powell and the two became lifelong friends.

She married Gerald Arlo Shipp at St. Matthews Episcopal Church in Glasgow and together they had their son, Tony Ray Shipp. Cherron began her first job working for the JCPenney Company in Glasgow as a floor manager. Her husband Gerry later died in a tragic accident in 1966. Cherron and Tony moved to Billings, Mont., where she met her future husband, Ben Robertson. They were married in 1969. She worked at Gallatin Homes, a mobile home factory, for 16 years until they closed. Cherron and Ben divorced after two years of marriage, and she moved to Great Falls, Mont. She also sold show tickets in Las Vegas for a time.

Cherron was close to her loved ones, especially her son, Tony. She always found joy in watching him explore the family farm in Glasgow, and the many adventures he went on as a young boy. Even as he grew up, she always had great anticipation for his visits. Her cats, Pretty Pretty Puff Puff, Charlie, Shalamar, Dickens, and Punkin were also cherished and adored.

Cherron had a wonderful sense of humor and the most delightful laugh. She enjoyed reading mystery books and had a great knowledge of the Presidents of the United States. Cherron was very involved in politics and was a lifelong Democrat. She also enjoyed the latest fashion, decorating her home, and Choke Cherry jam, made with love by her dear friends Don and Claudia Mecham. Her favorite restaurant was Eddie's Supper Club. She also loved Perkins Restaurant for breakfast as well as a big juicy Baconator burger from Wendy's with a Pepsi. Never Coke!

Cherron was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents; and her husband, Gerald "Gerry" Shipp.

She is survived by her son, Tony Shipp; goddaughter, Celeste (Rod) Pogachar, of Hamilton, Mont .: good friends, Nancy Powell, of Wisconsin, Casey, Joe, and Katie, of Great Falls, and Karen, of Great Falls; her beloved cat; Punkin; as well as estranged stepsister, Sheila Cunningham.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial or donation in Cherrons's name to the Great Falls Animal Shelter (1010 25th Ave NE, Great Falls, MT 59404).
