Special Olympics Come to Glasgow

Glasgow played host to the 2022 NorthEast Area Games, Special Olympic Games Montana on Friday, welcoming teams from Sidney and Opheim to Scottie Field. The wind and cold did little to dampen the spirits of the athletes who took the track and field with smiles.

Opheim was represented by Steve Fauth and Donny Bailey. Linda Laumeyer, Jennfer Franzen, Tiffany Granholm, Isaiah Devereaux, Shawn Garwood, Cari Knowles, Jennifer Bodner, Karla Carsjo, Kieth Yellowrobe, Caite Grewe and Shaundel Alexander represented Glasgow.

OPHEIM

Fauth and Bailey took first and second, respectively, in the 100 Meter Walk Men's Division C. Fauth finished in 42.22 while Donny Bailey completed the race in 45.40.

Fauth and Bailey joined forces to take first place in the bocce games Doubles Men's Division 1. Bailey was joined by John Rogenes to take second in Unified Doubles while Fauth took on Amber Kennedy as partner for a second place finish in Unified Doubles/Doubles Mixed Division.

GLASGOW

Track

Laumeyer and Franzen took first and second in the 25 Meter Walk Women's Division. Laumeyer walked the race in 10.77 and Franzen finished in 49.09.

Granolm, Devereaux, Garwood and Knowles handed off the baton in winning the 4x100 relay with a time of 1:50.78.

Bodner earned second place in the 50 Meter Walk Women's Division A with a 30.44 time. Franzen won the 50 Meter Walk Women's Division B with her 1:37.00 time. Garsjo walked the 50 Meter Walk Women's Division C in 41:05 to win.

Grewe won the 100 Meter Walk Women's Division A with a time of 43.35. Bodner walked the distance in 56.49 for second place. Laumeyer won the 100 Meters Walk Women's Division C with a time of 39.85.

Yellowrobe won the 50 Meter Walk Men's Division with a time of 39.81. He placed second with a time of 1:18.34 in the 100 Meter Walk Men's Division A.

Garwood won the 100 Meter Dash Men's Division B with a time of 2:25.93.

Field

Knowles won the Softball Throw Women's Division A with a throw of 12.55 meters.

Granholm threw 30.91 meters in the Softball Throw Women's Division B for first place.

Knowles jumped 0.97 meters to win the Standing Long Jump Women's Division B.

Granholm won the Standing Long Jump Women's Division C with a leap of 1.52 meters. Grewe jumped 0.43 meters to take second place.

Bocce

Alexander and Laumeyer teamed up to claim the top slot in the Doubles Women's Division 1 bocce games. Bodner and Grewe took second place.

Franzen took on McKenna Strommen as a teammate to win the Unified Doubles.
