Scotties Setting the Bar for Track and Field Postseason

Glasgow's track and field team hit three meets this past week with the Cal Wearley Memorial in Havre taking place on Tuesday and splitting the squad for the Fairfield Belt State Preview and the Whitewater/Saco Invite in Glasgow on Saturday.

The Glasgow girls won in Havre with a score of 178, more than 40 points ahead of Saco, who took second with 136 points. The Scottie boys placed second with 85.5 points, behind the host team with a score of 109. Glasgow turned in 38 personal best performances.

At the Fairfield Belt State Preview meet in Great Falls the girls took third with 42 points, behind Seeley-Swan, 76, and Fergus, 64. The boys claimed second place with a score of 48 behind first place Seeley-Swan with 67.

In Glasgow the Scottie girls placed 12th with 9 points and the boys took eighth place with 19 points.

Blaire Westby led the Scottie girls in the sprints in Havre, taking second in the 100 meters finals with a season record time of 13.44, after running a 14.12 in the prelims. Nora Neumiller ran a season best 14.85 in the 100 meter prelims for 20th and Ava Lloyd took 25th with her time of 15.14.

Lloyd placed 22nd in the 200 meter prelims with a personal record time of 31.01. Haylly Turner set a season record at 31.69 and took 28th place. Abigail Kulczyk also set a personal record with her time of 32.54, placing 35th in the prelims.

Westby won the 400 meters with a season best time of 1;07.43. Lloyd placed 14th at 1:15.48 with Turner in the next spot with a time of 1:17.43.

On the boys side, Toryn Richards placed 24th in the 100 meter prelims with a time of 12.67. Wyatt Babb set a personal record of 12.84 for 31st place. Nick Solarzano, Rex Monson and Blake Lloyd placed 40th, 41st and 42nd. Solarzano ran the race in 13.26, Monson 13.28 and B. Lloyd a season best 13.28. Noah Runner ran the race in 13.78 and took 57th place.

Babb set a personal record in the 200 meter prelims and finished 13th at 25.37. Myles Yoakam also set a personal record, 27.07, and a placed 32nd. Adam Mickelson, Dillon Hughes and Ted See also set personal records in the event. Mickelson ran a 27.89 and took 34th. Hughes ran the race in 28.85 and T. See in 29.40 for 38th and 39th places, respectively.

Babb set another personal record in the 400 meters, taking 12th with a time of 59.38. B. Lloyd set a season record at 1:00.25 and took 17th place. Runner's 1:02.60 was also a personal best and earned him 27th place. Monson took 30th with a personal best time of 1:04.31. T. See placed 39th with a time of 1:11.12.

Kambria Ross set personal records in both girls' hurdle events. She ran the 100 meter hurdles in 19.42 and placed 15th while taking 18th in the 300 meters with a time of 58.73.

Stephen Bailey and Mason Donaldson ran the boys' 110 meter hurdles. Bailey set a personal record and took sixth place with a time of 19.20 while Donaldson placed 10th with a time of 20.06.

Iris McKean won the girls 800 meters with a personal best time of 2:27.74. Tanae Baker also set a personal record with a time of 2:31.89 for third place. Emily See set a season record with a time of 2:44.31 to earn ninth place. Kheyerah Bilger took 16th place with her time of 2:55.90, a personal best.

Baker won the 1600 meters race with her time of 5:34.01, a personal record. E. See earned fifth place with a time of 6:08.85. Bilger placed 12th after running the race in 6:57.30.

McKean and E. See both set season records in the 3200 meters, claiming first and second place respectively. McKean ran a 12:08.00 and E. See completed the race in 12:49.60.

Dalton Sand led the Scottie boys in the 800 meters, taking second with a season best time of 2:08.46. Kyler Holinde turned in a personal best performance at 2:14.45, taking sixth place. Bergen Miller set a personal record, and took eighth place, at 2:17.50. Reed Larsen placed 10th at 2:17.96 and T. See set a personal record of 2:42.15 for 12th place.

Sand also led the Scotties in the 1600 meters, taking third at 5:01.84. Holinde placed fifth with a time of 5:14.83. Lane Thompson placed eighth with a time of 5:23.16 and Owen Thompson set a personal record at 6:34.44 and claimed 26th place.

The Glasgow boys cleaned up in the 3200 meters, taking four of the top six spots. Larsen claimed the overall top spot with a personal best time of 10:52.40. Holinde's personal best time of 11:08.70 earned him second place with Miller's personal best time of 11:20.60 earning him third place. L. Thompson finished in fifth with a personal record time of 11:38.00.

Glasgow's girls' 4x100 relay team of Ross, Tyann Graham, A. Lloyd and Neumiller, took third place with their time of 55.62. A. Lloyd, Turner, Baker and McKean took fifth in the 4x400 relay, running the race in 4:4 8.00.

Tatum Hansen, Richards, Solarzano and Ted Tryan earned 11th in the boys 4x100 relay, finishing in 46.68. Tryan, L. Thompson, Larsen and Sand took second in the 4x400 relay with a time of 3:51.16.

Graham took 13th in the girls' shot put prelims, throwing a season record 27-10.50. Emma Whitmer threw 21-04.00 for 41st while Kassi Norcutt took 47th with a personal best 19-01.00.

E. Whitmer finished in 28th in the discus prelims with a throw of 64-09 while Norcutt took 47th with a personal best throw of 41-01.

Graham earned 21st in the javelin prelims with a distance of 81-09. Wesbty set a personal record and took 36th with a throw of 72-07. E. Whitmer threw 56-05 and placed 52nd while Norcutt came in 66th with a personal record throw of 32-10.

Sand threw a personal best 39-06.00 in the boys shot put finals, taking fifth place. He threw 39-05.00 in the prelims. Connor Hudyma threw a personal best 36-03.00 and placed 12th in the prelims. Noah Lippert's 33-07.00 throw was a personal best and took 24th place. Monson also threw a personal record, 32-05.00, and placed 29th while Yoakam took 40th with a distance of 30-07.00. Hughes placed 54th with a personal best throw of 27-09.00. Connor Whitmer took 68th with a personal best throw of 24-11.00 while Mason Swenson placed 72nd with a 22-09.00 throw. Josh Llewellyn placed 76th with a distance of 15-06.00.

Miller led the Scottie boys with a fifth place finish in the discus with a throw of 118-08, followed by Vaughn Miller in sixth with a personal record 117-03. Hudyma's personal record 116-10 earned him seventh place. B. Miller threw the same in the prelims while V. Miller threw a 116-09 in the prelims and Hudyma improved from a prelim throw of 109-03.

Zavier Urbin threw a personal record 82-00 for 29th in the prelims. Lippert's personal record 81-06 earned him 32nd while Yoakam took 37th with a personal best 80-00. Hughes threw 77-01 for 44th place. C. Whitmer earned 48th with a personal best 72-05. Swenson threw 67-06 for 56th place and Llewellyn finished in 73rd with a throw of 40-08.

V. Miller won the boys javelin with his personal record throw of 160-03, the same distance he hit in the prelims. Donaldson took seventh place with his personal record 135-00 throw, improving from 130-10 in the prelims.

Sand hit a personal record at 113-06 and placed 19th in the prelims. Urbin threw 96-08 for 30th place, followed by Lippert in 31st with a throw of 95-10. Yoakam finished in 34th with a throw of 95-00 and C. Whitmer placed 68th with a personal record 59-01.

Eve Stone won the girls' pole vault with a personal record height of 9-06.00. She tied for fourth in the high jump after clearing 4-08.00. Stone set a season record in the long jump with a leap of 15-04.00 to take fourth in the finals. She jumped 13-06.00 in the prelims, entering the finals tied for ninth.

Ross placed 11th in the long jump prelims with a personal record of 13-03.00. Kulczyk jumped 12-02.00 and took 31st while Turner finished in 39th with an 11-05.00 jump.

Stone set a season record of 30-02.00 in the triple jump and took 12th place. Turner finished in 25th with her 25-09.50 jump.

Bailey tied for eighth in the boys' high jump after clearing a personal record 5-06.00. Babb also set a personal record, 5-02.00, and tied with Donaldson's season record for 14th place. Runner tied for 22nd with his personal best jump of 5-00.00.

Bailey placed second in the pole vault after clearing 11-06.00. Tryan earned sixth place at 11-00.000 and L. Thompson set a season record at 10-00.00 and tied for sixth place.

Babb placed fourth in the long jump with a personal record 19-04.00. Tryan finished in 10th place with a personal record jump of 17-10.75.

Solarzano jumped 17-06.25 for 17th place in the prelims. Bailey took 28th with a 16-06.25 jump and Richards placed 31st with his 16-02.50 jump. Runner jumped 15-02.00 for 49th place and Michelson took 54th place with a personal best 14-02.50.

V. Miller's personal record 37-05.00 earned him fourth in the boys' triple jump finals, an improvement over his eighth place 36-01.50 prelims jump. Bailey set a personal record of 36-09.50 for seventh place in the finals after a 36-06.00 sixth place in the prelims. Solarzano placed 17th in the prelims with a 34-00.00 jump and Monson jumped 31-10.00 for 23rd place.

Saturday, the Scotties sent their senior competitors to the Fairfield Belt State Preview meet in Great Falls.

Westby helped the Scottie girls to their third place team finish with her fifth place finish in the 100 meters. She ran the race in 13.78. A. Lloyd took 25th with a personal record time of 14.83 while He'Lena Deavila set a season record at 14.85 for 26th place.

Westby set a season record in the 200 meters at 28.55 and finished in eighth place. Deavila also set a season record, 30.45, and finished in 23rd followed by A. Lloyd in 24th with her personal best time of 30.48.

Sabrina Harsh set a personal record and finished 17th in the 400 meters, running the lap in 1:08.84. Deavila set a season record at 1:10.30 and took 21st place. Turner's 1:14.89 was a season record and earned her 27th place.

Hansen led the Scottie boys in the 100 meters, taking 29th with a time of 12.47. B. Lloyd set a season record at 13.00 and took 52nd place while Solarzano took 61st with a time of 13.23.

Solarzano set a personal record in the 200 meters at 26.34, taking 44th place. B. Lloyd's season record 27.50 earned him 59th place.

Richards set a personal record in the 400 meters at 59.25, finishing in 29th place. B. Lloyd set another season record, finishing in 59.87 and 31st place. Solarzano took 33rd with his time of 1:00.17.

Baker earned fifth place in the girls' 800 meters with her time of 2:32.69. She placed third in 1600 meters, with a personal record 5:29.44, coming in behind McKean in second place with her personal record 5:24.91, and ahead of E. See in third place, with a season record 5:48.60.

McKean also finished second in the 3200 meters, running the race in 12:13.10. E. See placed fourth with a season record time of 12:48.27.

Sand won the boys' 800 meters with a time of 2:08.62. Holinde set a personal record and took third after running the race in 2:10.31. Larsen placed 11th at 2:15.34 followed by B. Miller in 12th with his personal best 2:16.26.

Larsen set a personal record and took third in the 1600 meters at 4:51.39. Sand's season record 5:00.10 earned him seventh place. L. Thompson took 30th with his 5:36.31.

Kambira Ross took 23rd in the girls' 100 meter hurdles with a time of 19.60 while Westby set a personal record of 55.31 in the 300 meter hurdles for 19th place.

Hansen set a season record of 17.71 in the boys' 110 meter hurdles for eighth place and Bailey took 17th with his time of 19.79. Donaldson placed 20th at 20.28. Hansen took 16th in the 300 meter hurdles at 47.50.

Westby, A. Lloyd, Graham and Neumiller teamed up for seventh place in the girls' 4x100 relay with a time of 54.79.

Holinde, Larsen, B. Lloyd and Sand earned eighth in the boys' 4x400 relay with their 3:55.45 finishing time.

Graham threw 68-03 in the girls' javelin to tie for 50th place.

B. Miller set a season record in boys' discus with a throw of 123-09 for 11th place.

V. Miller threw 160-03 in boys javelin, taking second place. Donaldson placed 10th with his throw of 131-01. Sand set a season record at 126-00 and placed 16th.

Eve Stone cleared 4-06.00 in the girls' high jump to tie for eighth place while Turner's 4-02.00 was a personal record good for a 25th place tie.

Stone claimed second in girls' pole vault after clearing 9-00.00 and tied for seventh in the long jump with a leap of 15-02.25. Turner took 32nd with a personal best 12-08.50 and Deavila set a season record and tied for 41st with a jump or 12-03.50.

Stone set a season record in the triple jump at 30-05.50 and took 12th place. Turner placed 28th with a jumper of 26-08.25.

Bailey tied for 20th in the boys' high jump after clearing 5-02.00. He won the pole vault with a personal record 13-03.00. Tryan took fourth place after clearing 11-00.00 and Hansen tied for 19th at the height of 8-06.00.

Richards set a personal record and placed 23rd in boys' long jump with a distance of 17-10.00. Bailey also set a personal record, and tied for 41st, at 16-11.50. Tryan placed 47th with a jump of 16-07.50.

V. Miller led the Scottie boys in the triple jump with a 17th place finish at 36-09.00. Bailey placed 24th with a 35-02.50 jump and Richards' personal record 34-02.50 earned him 31st place. Solarzano finished in 37th with a 33-04.00 jump and Tryan set a personal record at 32-08.00 for 39th place.

Back in Glasgow, a group of Scotties competed at the Whitewater/Saco Invitational at Scottie Field on Saturday.

Neumiller earned sixth place in the girls' 100 meters with a season record 14.02 run. Brooklyn Hallock set a personal record and placed 17th with a time of 14.94. She also took 14th in the 200 meters with a personal record of 31.33.

Monson led the Scottie boys in the 100 meters, finishing 30th with a time of 13.33. Runner placed 39th at 13.68.

Babb set a personal record and placed third in the 200 meters at 24.77. Hudyma's personal record of 27.19 earned him 20th place. Hughes and Runner, both at 28.20, finished in 25th place with their personal best times. T. See took 32nd at 29.40.

Babb also led the Scottie boys in the 400 meters, taking fifth with a personal record 58.56. Monson also set a personal record, and placed 11th, at 1:00.87. Yoakam's personal record 1:02.74 put him in 13th place with Runner directly behind him in 14th at 1:03.21. T. See placed 24th at 1:11.00.

Bilger placed second in the girls' 800 meters with a personal best time of 2:48.90. She also set a personal record in the 1600 meters, 6:31.17, to take seventh place.

Owen Thompson set a personal record in the boys' 800 meters at 2:58.13 and earned 17th place. Mickelson ran the 1600 meters in 6:09.40, a personal record, for 12th place. O. Thompson ran the race in 6:44.62 and took 16th place.

E. Whitmer placed eighth in girls' shot put with a personal record throw of 29-04.00. Norcutt's personal record 25-00.50 earned her 20th place while Hailee Richardson took 24th with a personal best throw of 24-01.50.

E. Whitmer also earned 10th in the discus with a 69-10 throw. Norcutt took 23rd with a personal best 52-10 and Richardson's personal best 45-05 earned her 28th place.

In girls' javelin, E. Whitmer threw a personal best 62-08 for 23rd place. Hallock's personal record 57-08 earned her 25th place while Norcutt took 33rd with a personal best 37-03.

Hudyma's personal record 36-10.00 earned him eighth in boys' shot put. Lippert's 35-01.00, a personal best, put him in 12th place. Parker Allen took 21st with a personal best throw of 33-00.50. Yoakam took 34th at 30-01.00 and Hughes' personal record 29-03.50 put him in 36th place. C. Whitmer threw 24-10.25 for 46th, followed by Swenson's 24-08.75 in 47th place. Llewellyn threw 16-09.25 for 52nd place.

Hudyma earned sixth place in discus with a 110-00 throw. Lex Fairclough placed 28th at 88-04, followed by Hughes' personal best 86-06 in 29th and Urbin's personal record 86-02 in 30th place. Lippert placed 37th with an 80-03 throw. Swenson, 73-09, and C. Whitmer, 73-00, both hit personal bests and placed 41st and 42nd, respectively. Llewellyn took 56th with a 42-04 throw.

Lippert tied for 10th in the javelin with a personal best throw of 118-09. Urbin took 16th with a throw of 109-07, a personal best. Yoakam's personal record 105-00 earned him 20th place and Fairclough's personal best 85-06 put him in 36th place. C. Whitmer took 51st with his personal best throw of 63-09. Allen, 61-04, and Llewellyn, 61-03, both hit personal records and placed 54th and 55th, respectively. Swenson placed 58th with a 51-06 throw.

Mickelson set a personal record in boys high jump at 4-10.00 and tied with Runner for 10th place.

Babb won boys' long jump with an 18-11.00 jump. Runner placed 19th at 15-09.50. Mickelson's personal best 14-08.50 put him in 31st place.

Monson took 15th in the triple jump with a personal record 33-04.75 jump.

A number of Scotties competed at the 37th Annual Top 10 Track Meet, renamed this year to honor Norm Girard, on Tuesday. The story will appear in next week's Courier.

Glasgow will attend the Wolf Point Invitational Friday, May 6, and attend the Gene Dreikosen Hinsdale Meet on Saturday, May 7, with events starting at 9:30 a.m. on Scottie Field.
