Frazer Boys Lose Three

The Frazer boys basketball team dropped three games this past week while missing two starters, Keein Ackerman and John Hotomanie.

The fell 90-26 against a tough Poplar team last Monday in Frazer. Friday night the Bearcubs fell to Nashua 62-39 in front of a home crowd. On Saturday in Lustre, Frazer fell to the conference-leading Lions 80-11.

Poplar took control of the court early with a 40-6 lead after one and 64-15 at the half. Frazer trailed 84-21 after three.

Ryker Ackerman led the Bearcubs with 11 points, including a shot from downtown. Jonathan Jackson scored 6 and Ty Fourstar added 4 points. Travis Long and Joseph Beston both hit a field goal for Frazer.

The Bearcubs had 10 fouls in the game, split evenly between the halves. Beston was called for four and Blue Fettig had three. Long, Fourstar and Ackerman had one infraction each.

Nashua was in town Friday where they avenged an earlier season loss to Frazer. The Bearcubs put up strong performances in the first and fourth quarters, but were outdone by Nashua's second, third and fourth quarters.

Frazer led 14-5 after one, but trailed 25-19 at the half. A powerful third quarter gave Nashua the 45-25 lead heading into the final eight minutes. Frazer put up 14 in the fourth but Nashua added another 17 to their score.

Fourstar led the Bearcubs with 16 points, sinking three shots from long range. Ackerman added 9 with a trey and Beston scored 6 points with two outside shots. Long hit a three-pointer, Jackson added 3 points and Fettig 2.

Frazer had 15 fouls, nine in the second half. Jackson was called for four infractions while Fourstar, Fettig and Beston had three each. Long was called for one foul.

The Bearcubs were in Lustre Saturday where the undefeated Lions won after taking a 27-3 lead after one quarter. Frazer trailed 52-7 at the half and 68-11 after three quarters. They were shut out in the final eight minutes while the Lions added another 12 points to scoreboard.

Ackerman put up 7 points for Frazer, including a three-pointer. Fourstar and Jackson each hit a field goal.

Frazer travels to Dodson Friday, Feb. 11, for a girls varsity game at 5:30 p.m. and a boys varsity game at 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 12, the Bearcubs host the North Country Mavericks for Senior Night with a girls varsity game at 5:30 p.m. and a boys varsity game at 7 p.m.
