Six More Weeks of Winter

Adventures in St. Marie

Well, in case you didn’t hear, Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow on Groundhog Day which means we have 6 more weeks of winter!

Each year, thousands actually descend on Gobbler’s Knob in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania to watch the giant rodent makes this annual weather prediction at dawn.

Now, if he didn’t see his shadow, good chance would be that spring would have come early.

Phil had more people at his rally than the current acting President ever did! Actual weather data says that Phil has only a 40% accurate prediction status. So he is wrong more than half the time so we may just luck out and have an early Spring!

This kind of ties into the possibly 6 more weeks of winter….

Did you know that for the past 30 years, Montana has ranked in the top five for suicide rates in the nation, for all age groups!

“As Montanans we don’t hear about these statistics very often, sadly.”

According to Suffer out loud and dphhs.mt.gov.

A couple of reason’s being is the lack of vitamin D, Altitude, High Concentration of Veterans, Native American’s , and Middle Age White Men, social isolation and several other causes.

If you feel you are going through depression, please talk to your medical health professionals. They can help you sort things out. Do it!

Well here is a quick teaser for Saint Marie for those who have asked or left messages: YES we do have a new Fire Chief and Fire board members.

The best news is that we now have gotten a whopping new Volunteer Fire fighter member recruits that total’s to 9 people.

We are beginning to feel safer already!

The water board meeting will be held on February 15th at 10:00 am and you will have the opportunity to voice your concerns about the absenteeism of the current water department girl.

We posted several concerns about the water department’s staff in last week’s Courier and you can voice your opinion in person if you wish.

The Fire board meeting will be held on February 17th at 6:30 pm.

Please attend if you can and meet the new members.

A special thank you goes out to Dr. Jon Kolstad and his staff Megan Bechel and April who are absolutely wonderful. Megan got us in to see Dr. Kolstad quickly for a concern we had and thankfully, everything turned out just fine.

Dr. Kolstad has been in business for 26 years now and makes you feel comfortable right away.

Thank you for everything!

Valley Rifle-Pistol Club President Mike Otterberg has just sent out the 2022 schedule for the shooters in the area who have a membership in this great organization and even better news is that the membership fees have not increased and are available at D&G’s Sporting Goods in Glasgow.

The first shoot of this year will be held on February 5th, Saturday, for the Precision .22 caliber Match Starting at 1:00 PM at VCRPC Shooting Range, weather permitting.
