Lustre Christian Boys Add Two Wins

The Lustre Christian boys basketball team added another two wins to their perfect record this past week. Tuesday, Jan. 25, they traveled to Scobey where they defeated the Spartans 54-45. Saturday the Lions rolled over the Bulldogs 57-47 in Bainville.

Lustre Christian took a 13-10 lead after one in Scobey and increased their lead to 27-21 at the half. The Lions were up 40- 36 after 24 minutes of action before going on to win.

Jasiah Hambira led the Lions in scoring with 15 points. Cayden Klatt and Kolden Hoversland each added 11 points while Kaleb Hoversland connected for 10 points. Braden Ewing scored 4 and Clay Reddig added 3 points. Kolden Hoversland led in assists with four followed by Klatt with three. Kaleb Hoversland, Reddig, Ewing and Hambira had one a piece.

Klatt and Ewing led the team in rebounds with seven each. Hambira had four while Klatt and Kolden Hoversland each had three. Klatt, Ewing and Hambira each had two steals and Kaleb Hoversland had one.

The Bulldogs on Saturday showed some fight, going up 13-9 over the Lions after the first eight minutes. But Lustre Christian threw up 21 points in the second to take a 30-18 lead into halftime.

They led 44-34 after three and held on for the 57-47 victory.

Kolden Hoversland put up 23 points to lead the Lions while Klatt added 12. Ewing scored 8 followed by Reddig with 6 and Kaleb Hoversland and Hambira with 4 each. Klatt led in assists with 6 while Kolden Hoversland had three and Kaleb Hoversland one.

Hambira and Ewing led in rebounds with seven each and Kolden Hoversland had six. Reddig pulled down four boards, Kaleb Hoversland three and Klatt two. Klatt, Kaleb Hoversland and Hambira had three steals a piece and Kolden Hoversland had one takeaway.

The Lions will be in Frazer on Saturday, Feb. 5. The girls varsity will play at 6 p.m., followed by the boys varsity at 7:30 p.m.
