Nashua Girls Fall to Scobey

The Porcupines girls basketball team fell to the Spartans 47-28 in Scobey Jan. 14.

The Spartans took an early lead in the game and held on to it throughout the 32 minutes of play. Nashua went down 12-4 at the end of the first and trailed 24-13 at the half.

Each team put up 9 points in the third quarter but Scobey outscored Nashua 14-6 in the final 8 minutes for the victory.

Tia Dees led Nashua in points with 9 followed by Deja Morgan with 7, including a three-pointer. Madison Harris scored 4 points while Keelyn Skolrud, Guinevere Abern, Hadynn Adkins and Kaitlyn Miller all contributed 2 points.

Nashua had 12 fouls in the game with only two in the second half. Dees was called for four. Adkins and Miller had three fouls each. Harris had two and Morgan one.

Opheim’s Carrie Taylor, playing for the Unified Scobey-Opheim team, scored 9 points, with a three-pointer and going 4-for-4 at the free throw line, and had two fouls.

Nashua hosted the Circle Wildcats Tuesday evening but scores were unavailable at press time.

This Friday, Jan. 21, they travel to Lustre to take on the Lions. Girls JV plays at 3 p.m. and the boys JV will play at 4:30 p.m. followed by girls varsity at 6 p.m. and boys varsity at 7:30 p.m.
