Adventures in St. Marie

In the very useful miscellaneous information department, my opinion, here is a Saint Marie factoid.

We are about 20 miles from Glasgow, Montana. If your vehicle gets 18 miles to the gallon of gas, as ours does, you use, about two gallons of gas getting to and from Glasgow.

You say, “so what”!

Let me digress for a moment.

You get the advertisements from lets say, Reynold’s or Albertson’s, and there is a “SALE” going on. So you depart Saint Marie and go to town to purchase something “ON SALE”.

Well, with the price of gasoline being $3.19 and your vehicle using two gallons for a round trip, you are already in the hole for $6.38.

Pretty much eats up that “SALE” doesn’t it?

A big thank you goes out to a few people who we have had the pleasure to cross paths with in town.

Ms. Ann Potter, of Reynold’s went out of her way on two separate occasions, to find something that was supposed to be on sale but unbeknownst to her, had not arrived yet due to the adverse weather.

She is a real asset to Reynold’s and her customer relations ability is superb.

Over at Durham’s, Heather Hooper and her daughters, Julia Buckman and Jada Mulligan are waitress’s there and are so happy as they serve their customers. Wonderful people.

Well, the training for the Saint Marie fire department was scheduled on Friday, the 7th, and we have not heard just how that went what with the adverse weather and such.

However, the Firefighters still have to perform their duties in all types of weather and adverse conditions, regardless. The Fire department’s next meeting is scheduled for January, 21, 2022 at the fire house.

They are still looking for a few good men and women to become volunteer firefighters. We also have had great lady firefighters in the past.

A few new folks have just moved here in September and were wondering about the absence of snow plowing on the roads in Saint Marie. Some streets are snow drifted over and then you have the icy conditions without gravel. We can only direct you to the Village representatives at Town Hall. Or as some long time residents say “The Village People”!

Yes, we are trying to get The Courier up here in Saint Marie, but as I alluded to earlier it has to be cost effective. The only suggestion we can give the good residents of Saint Marie is to purchase a subscription for a very nominal fee and get digital and paper in which you can actually hold in your hands.

If you do manage that, please tell us how to do it!

Wink, wink.

You will get excellent up to date news and fine opinions from our Editor Chris McDaniel, who has more degrees than a Westminster pedigree pup!

Lewis Carroll once said “One of the secrets of life is that all that is really worth the doing is what we do for others,” and that pertains to Saint Marie’s Madam “X”.

Thank you “X”!
