Nashua Boys Drop Games

The Nashua boys basketball team dropped their two games at the Tip-Off Tourney in Wolf Point this past weekend. A fourth-quarter surge put the Poplar JV squad ahead of Nashua 48-40 at the final buzzer on Friday. Saturday, the Porcupines were unable to counter the Glasgow JV team and fell by a 47-14 margin.

Nashua held the lead over Poplar for three of four quarters on Friday, up 13-11 at the end of the first. They were up by five at the half 27-22 and led 37-33 going into the final eight minutes. Poplar exploded in the final quarter with 15 points while holding Nashua to 3.

Ethan Noser led Nashua in scoring with 15, including two three-pointers. Kevan Viste connected for 11 points and Damon Adkins drained two treys. Grady Nielsen scored 4 points and Caden Laumeyer added 2 points.

The Porcupines had 13 fouls, seven in the first half. Noser was called for four, Laumeyer three, Walker Laumeyer and Adkins two each, and Viste and Xander Pugh one a piece. Nashua went only 3-for-11 on free throws, a 27 percent success rate.

On Saturday, Nashua faced a stronger Glasgow JV team and fell 47-14. Glasgow outscored Nashua 12-5 in the first, 11-4 in the second, 8-4 in the third and 18-1 in the fourth quarter.

Viste had 6 points for Nashua, Nielsen 4, X. Pugh 3 and Bubba Pugh added a free throw. Nashua had 14 fouls, nine in the second half. Adkins and Noser had three each, Nielsen, W. Laumeyer and C. Laumeyer two a piece, and X. Pugh and B. Pugh one each.

The Porcupines went 7-for-12 on free throws, a 58 percent success rate.

Nashua hosts Lustre Friday, Dec. 17, with the boys JV playing at 4:30 p.m. and varsity at 7:30 p.m. On Tuesday, Dec. 21, they host the North Country Mavericks with the JV squads meeting at 4:30 p.m. and varsity teams playing at 6 p.m. The Dodson Coyotes will be in Nashua on Wednesday, Dec. 22., with games beginning at 3 p.m.
