Russell 'Russ' Girard

Russell "Russ" Aime Girard, of Yakima, Wash., passed away peacefully on Saturday, Jan. 18, 2020, surrounded by loved ones after a courageous battle with cancer.

Russ was born in Great Falls, Mont., on Sept. 14, 1954, and grew up in Glasgow, Mont. He had great memories of pitching baseball on their local Little League team and going to the finals. He loved spending summers at the local park and pool with his siblings and friends growing up. After high school he joined the Navy and was stationed in San Diego, Calif. After serving his country he moved to Wenatchee, Wash., where he attended college. He settled in Yakima with his family and worked as a maintenance mechanic for over 40 years and recently retired. He was a proud Veteran and loved his country.

He enjoyed playing softball on several competitive teams in his younger years. Russ loved fishing, camping, golfing, and spending time with his family and friends. He always looked forward to visiting his friends and family in Glasgow and fishing with his sister, Shelly and brother-in-law, Dave.

Russ was preceded in death by his mother, Pauline Myhre; and one brother, Ron Girard.

Russ is survived by three children, Heather (Brad) Harrison, Jeremy (Darcy) Girard, and Jennifer Girard and fiancé Hunter Kellogg; four grandchildren, Bryce Harrison, Hayden Harrison, Evie Girard, and Emmett Girard; one sister, Shelly (Dave) George; one brother, Don (Pam) Girard; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

A celebration of life funeral services were held on Saturday, Feb. 1, at 2 p.m. at Shaw and Sons Funeral Home (201 N 2nd St, Yakima, WA 98901).
