The Glasgow Scottie Speech and Drama teams pose for a photo following the Divisional Tournament in Roundup. The Scotties are sending seven competitors to State in Bigfork including undefeated divisonal champ Isabelle Griffin (front row, fourth from left), divisional champ Ian Wright (second row, second from right) and divisional champ and freshman Mason Swenson (second row, far left).

The Glasgow Scotties are sending seven of their Speech and Drama competitors to the State Tournament in Bigfork on Jan. 31 and Feb. 1. Coming off the heels of the Class B/C divisional tournament in Roundup, the team amassed three divisional titles won by Ian Wright in Dramatic Oral Interpretation, Mason Swenson, a freshman, who claimed a title in Memorized Public Address and Isabelle Griffin continues her perfect season with a first place finish in Dramatic Solo.

Along with the three first place titles, the Scotties will be taking Lincoln-Douglas debater Donny Brabeck, humorous soloist and freshman Chase Tarum, Dramatic Oral Interpretation competitor Austin Babb and dramatic soloist Raelee Dowden. In order to qualify for State, a competitor needed to finish sixth or better, but the seventh and eighth place finishers, humorous soloist Harley Cook and impromptu competitor Ben Kompel will travel to Bigfork as alternatives for the competition. Lincoln-Douglas debater Ken Davis also qualified as an alternative however is not able to go.

Head coach Jody Griffin described the tournament to the Courier with the following statement, "Mason Swenson took divisional title for MPA as a freshman, which is pretty amazing and Ian Wright is on a winning steak as well. He too would have had a perfect season except for one second place [finish] in Poplar. Overall very pleased and excited to see how they do at State."
