The Strong People Strength Training Program
No matter what your age, no matter what your starting point, this program will help you improve your strength. Strong People Strength Training is developed and funded by Cornell University. Cornell has partnered with Montana State University Extension Educators to deliver the program at no cost to the community. If the program shows beneficial results, not only will the program be available to the wider community, it will be made available to other rural communities around the nation. Montana State Extension and your community are helping lead the way in what could prove to be a very exciting breakthrough in disease prevention in rural areas throughout the country.
The Strong People Program is an evidence-based strength-training program. Program benefits of strength training for older people (30 +) have been studied extensively and include: increased muscle mass and strength; improved bone density and reduced risk for osteoporosis and related fractures; reduced risk for diabetes, heart disease, arthritis, depression, and obesity; and improved self-confidence, sleep and vitality.
