Glasgow McDonald's Getting Major Face-Lift

Over the past few weeks, McDonald's in Glasgow has been a whirlwind of activity. The lobby area of the restaurant has been closed since May 14, while construction crews overhaul the inside and outside to make the dining experience more friendly and inviting.

According to owner Paul Ashenbrener, there are new and exciting things to come to our area restaurant. The goal of this remodel was to not only update the look of the building, but to also bring the dining experience to a whole new level. There will be an updated look to the indoor play area, a new and improved way to order your favorite foods and even the crew members will have a fresh look with new uniforms.

Ashenbrener tells the Courier, there will be a more personalized approach to getting your favorite food at your favorite restaurant. Crew members will table service your food, providing a more one-on-one interaction with customers.

Service will also be elevated in order to serve customers in the best possible way and to fit their schedule by releasing self-service kiosks and mobile app ordering. The kiosks will allow the customer to place their own order, find a comfortable place to sit, and a crew member will deliver the food right to their seat. The mobile app, which can be downloaded and utilized currently, allows customers to create a profile, and at a click of a button, submit their order.

The indoor play area is also getting a major upgrade. There will be different areas for separate age groups, tablets on a few tables with family-approved content, a couple of touch tables, allowing children and families to interact with each other on the table they are eating on and instruments will be mounted on the wall, allowing children of all ages to experience the wonders of music. “The new Playland will be fun for all ages. There will be more opportunities for family interaction,” said Ashenbrener.

Once the lobby construction has been completed, the drive-thru will be closed in order to remodel that part of the building as well. New improvements will be made to the drive-thru ordering experience, including having LED television screens to order from.

McDonalds will also be getting a new programmable sign that can be seen from Highway 2. According to shift manager Mariah Branson, this sign will be a great new addition, as it will have the ability to welcome visitors, sports teams as well as provide words of encouragement to Scottie athletes.

As of press time, and based upon the current construction schedule, the lobby is expected to be open on Tuesday, July 17. Ashenbrener is planning a Family Night to celebrate the grand reopening as a way to thank the community for all of their support during this transition and to allow the community to see and experience all of the changes. Following the opening, there will be food specials and watch out for new menu options as well.
