Scottie Softball

So far, so good. The Scotties are 1-0 in conference play entering this week's conference games at Shepherd on Thursday and the Columbus Invitational on Friday and Saturday.

GHS, 5-1 overall, opened conference play with a 7-0 victory Saturday following their split last week with two Class A teams, a 10-3 win at Sidney and a 9-1 home loss to Havre.

At Colstrip, it was all Scotties with Tiana Johnson leading the offense with a 3-for-4 night at the plate and three runs in support of pitcher Tyra Johnon's five-hit, seven-inning shutout victory over the Fillies. Tyra Johnson struck out six and walked none. The pitcher is 5-1 on the season, accounting for all of the Scotties' decisions.

All seven Scottie runs were earned against Colstrip pitcher Taylor Robinson. Lexi Nixdorf went 1-4 with a homer, two RBI and two runs. Sadie Sukut also knocked in two, going 1-for-4 with a double. Tyra Johnson went 1-for-1, Ziggy Chamberlain 1-for-3, Teagan Fossum 1-for-1 (3B, R) and Ashtyn Myrick 1-for-1 (RBI).

Coach Mark Falcon considers the Scotties a Top 3 team in the division, along with Conrad and Columbus.

The Scotties also were scheduled to play a nonconference game Tuesday, April 21, against visiting Williston, N.D.
