Serving Proudly As The Voice Of Valley County Since 1913

Donna Lee Etchart

Donna Lee (Squires) Etchart, 85, passed away on Friday, Jan. 23, 2015, in Glasgow, surrounded by her family.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 31, at St. Raphael's Catholic Church in Glasgow.

She was born May 3, 1929, in Baylor, Mont., to Lisle and Cecile (Turnacliff) Squires. She spent her first years growing up on the Lisle Squires farm in the Wild Rose Community near Baylor. During the depression era of 1933, the family moved to Glasgow. Lisle got a job helping construct the Fort Peck Dam, so the family then moved to the Fort Peck area. Donna Lee went to West Galpin School and then the Fort Peck School through the eighth grade. She graduated from Glasgow High School in 1947.

After working for a year, she attended Macalester College in St. Paul, Minn. There she met her future husband, Mitch Etchart. They were married on Sept. 20, 1952. They had five children: Danielle, Rita, Paulette, Nancy and Paul.

She was a fantastic mother and a wonderful wife, always on the go and interested and involved in her children's activities. In later years, she enjoyed her grandchildren's sports and activities as well. She loved going to the lake and often took the five kids and their friends boating for the day. She loved traveling, playing whist and bridge, taking care of her flowers and doing crafts. Her interests included ceramics, knitting and crocheting, as well as making beautiful decorative Christmas pieces. She was a member of the Valley County Cowbelles, chairperson of the Beef Cookoff, a long-time American Legion Auxiliary member and a member of St. Raphael's Parish. She often cooked for the ranch when they were trailing cattle.

She is preceded in death by one brother, Harold Squires, and a daughter, Nancy Etchart.

Her immediate family includes her husband, Mitchel; Danielle Anderson and her husband, Einar, and their children, Angie Watson and her husband, Tony, Lisa Swanson and her husband, Torey, and Nicole Anderson (Will Metz); Rita Gallagher and her husband, Mitch, and their children, Thomas and his wife, Abbey, Alyssa, and Alex Gallagher; Paulette Etchart and Jon Satre and their children, Erik, Aron, and Brooke Satre; Paul Etchart and his wife, Barb, and their children, Evan, Emily, and Ethan Etchart; and great-grandchildren, Lauren Watson, Quinn and Connor Swanson, Ealin Gallagher, and Shelby Metz.

Bell Mortuary is in charge of funeral arrangements. Memorials can be made to Glasgow High School Educational Trust, 904 Wedum Drive, Glasgow, MT 59230.
