Kiwanis Swim Season Nearing

Kiwanis Swim Team Ready For Good Season

Warmer temperatures and longer daylight have our swimmers dreaming about lanes and laps again!

The board members of the Glasgow Kiwanis Swim Team (GKST) have been busy planning for the 2014 summer. The officers on the board are: President--Melani Vandall, vice-president Mike Kaiser, treasurer Lynn Miller, parent liaison Georgie Kulczyk, secretary Lih-An Yang, and past-president Scott Billingsley.

Registration for the new season will take place on Wednesday, April 23, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. in the basement of the library.

We welcome new swimmers, ages 4 to 19, to join us. If you are not sure about signing up your child at this time, or simply want some more information, feel free to come to the registration and chat with fellow swimmers. Also check out our website http://www.glasgowmtswim.com.

Joining the swim team is a fun way for your child to become a proficient swimmer and stay fit while enjoying occasional weekend competitions.

Rare is a sport which allows sibling athletes to travel to the same destination! The swim team is known for its family-like environment where swimmers cheer each other on and their main goal is simply to improve upon personal progress.

Pressing on our agenda is the hiring of coaches. Having collegiate swimmers as coaches for the last few seasons has built success for the team.

These college students were able to teach technical skills as well as develop personal rapport with the kids.

If you are, or know of, collegiate swimmers who need a great summer job and gain valuable experience coaching dedicated kids in a friendly community, please email the swim team at [email protected], or call Melani Vandall at (406) 839-1085.

Lodging will be provided if necessary.

It looks like the weekend of July 5-6 is the slot available for Glasgow to host a regular meet.

The board would like to hear from parents as to whether they will be around to attend and help out with the meet. Your input is greatly appreciated.

Stay tuned for more updates. See you on April 23.
