Serving Proudly As The Voice Of Valley County Since 1913

Peggy L. Knight

Peggy L (Estrem) Knight, 64, of Hamilton, Mont., passed away on Wednesday, March 8, at her home with family by her side, after a valiant battle with cancer. She was born Nov. 14, 1958, in Glasgow, Mont., to Harland L and Marian E (Nakken) Estrem.

A celebration of life will be held for Peggy on Saturday, May 13, 2023, at Grace Gospel Fellowship, in Hamilton. Private family interment will take place at the old Lincoln Cemetery, at a later date.

Peggy was raised in Glasgow and graduated from Glasgow High, in 1977. She attended college in Billings for one year and then returned to Glasgow to work. She and Richard Knight were married on Sept. 1, 1978. They moved to Lincoln, Mont., where they spent 17 years. While in Lincoln, Peggy entered a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. She was active in the Blackfoot Valley Bible church, mainly in children's ministries. Her heart was with all children and her passion was to see children come to Christ.

In 1997, the family moved to Alaska to attend Bible College. While there, she also worked at the elementary school, following another passion, helping kids with reading and speech. Her work there with children was honored by the state of Alaska when she was presented their "Paraprofessional of the Year" award.

The family returned to Montana, in 2005, to help care for her mother. Since moving to Hamilton, she has continued to minister to and love on kids here, serve on the area team for Operation Christmas Child, helping bring the Gospel of Jesus to kids around the world, as well as working in the local elementary school.

Peggy was preceded in death by her parents; a brother-in-law, James Duggan; and Rick's mom, Nell.

Peggy is survived by her husband, Rick, of Hamilton; her son, Matt (Christy Schofield), of Eagle River, Alaska; daughter, Robin, of Hamilton; sisters, Vickie (Pat) Rice, of Glasgow, Karen (Mick) Mercer and Jane (Royce) Glader, all of Colorado; by Rick's sister, Cindi (Charles) McReynolds, of Washington; numerous nieces and nephews and their families; as well as extended family.

The family suggests memorials be made to Samaritan's Purse, Operation Christmas Child, P.O. Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607.
