The Montana Department of Transportation is searching for wetlands that have been drained and/or partially drained that could be restored as mitigation for transportation projects.
The Glasgow School Board's newly hired owner's representative for the proposed building and renovation project was introduced by Superintendent Bob Connors at a public meeting at East Side School on Monday evening. Paul Bishop, who was an architect in Montana, more than 20 years, now represents schools when they are building new facilities.
Second-graders in Denise Winchester's class at Irle School turned their room into a living history museum on Tuesday. Each student picked a famous American in history, researched the person and wrote a summary of their important accomplishments. Every student was dressed in character and prepared to recite their information for the visitors who crowded the room.
Part of six state championship Scottie wrestling teams, Byron Hallock announced his resignation earlier this week. Hallock has served as a coach off and on, in some capacity, for over 20 years with Glasgow and has overseen five state championship teams during that time and several more individual titles.

The State Department of Livestock has notified Valley County that the rabies quarantine in effect since April 8, 1997 has been released. A letter from Assistant State Veterinarian D. Owen James said that sixty days has elapsed since the last laboratory positive rabies case.
The Irle School playground committee was successful in winning grants from the state and national Ronald McDonald House Charities totaling $7500. The money will be used to buy a climbing apparatus for the playground.
Markles Ace Hardware in Glasgow will expand operations into the former Woolworth building adjacent to it, store manager Dick Markle announced Tuesday. Renovation on the property will begin immediately, with completion expected by early summer. The building on the corner of Second Avenue and Fifth Street south has stood empty since the Woolworth store closed in spring 1994.
The Lady Scotties began their weekend with a predicted victory over the Wolf Point Wolves. They had a dominating game, not letting the Wolves get past 10. The scores were 15-8. 15-7, and 15-6.

The Department of the Army has approved a $2,685,039 contract with the Avco corporation at Glasgow Air Force Base for the manufacture of artillery primers and ammunition bandoleers for the period of March 1, 1974. In making the announcement, Sen. Mike Mansfield (D-Mont.) said the new contract is a continuation of the present contract that now employs 175 area persons with Avco at the Air Base.
The promotion of six employees and the re-election of five directors highlighted the annual stockholders' meeting at First Security Bank & Trust of Glasgow, last week.
Andy Strommen of Vandalia already had 10 crossbred calves from Chianina (pronounced key-anena) sires and his Hereford cows when two Cheney, Wash., ranchers claimed last week to have the only crossbred calf of this kind in the Pacific Northwest. All born between Dec. 19 and Feb. 3. Strommen's calves ranged in birth weight from 80 to over 100 pounds. The calves are the result of artificial insemination, and the sires are the Italian Chianina bulls Ferrero and Fedalio.

Representatives of 12 Glas-gow and countywide organizations met in the courthouse Monday night and organized a temporary committee to provide means for aiding in the development of "The Pines" recreation area on the Fort Peck Reservoir.
The Revelers, worlds most famous male quartet, appeared in concert last Wednesday night in the high school auditorium as the second in the seasons community concert series.
Dodson Coyotes firmly established their first place status by defeating Saco, 55 to 39, in the championship game of the District 3, Class B basketball tournament in the Civic Center Saturday night before an audience that filled every seat and most of the standing space.
The Utah- Idaho Sugar company is sponsoring an exhibition of sugar beet machinery in a caravan that is touring the entire district of the Chinook factory, and which will make three showing in Valley county next week. They will be at Nashua Tuesday, Glasgow Wednesday, and Hinsdale Thursday.
