Lustre Boys Continue Winning Streak

The Lustre Christian Lions kept their winning streak alive over this past weekend, winning at home against the North Country Mavericks on Friday and on the road in Dodson on Saturday. The Lions end their regular season with a 10-0 conference record and an 18-0 overall record.

The Lions took home the win against the Mavericks 71-10, utilizing multiple players throughout the game. The first quarter saw Clay Reddig, Cayden Klatt, Alex Chan, Elijah Lenihan, Braden Ewing and Bryon Ewing all taking shots to lead 21 points to North Country’s three points by Coy Bowman. During the second quarter, Josiah Hambira saw four opportunities at the charity strip, making one, while also sinking three baskets for six points. Reddig made a shot outside of the line for three, while Chen, Klatt, Lenihan, Johnslee Pierre, Broden Ewing, and Bryon Ewing each scored two At the half, the score was 46 Lustre vs six North Country.

Throughout the game Reddig, Klatt, Joseph, Byron Ewing and Nathan Fast each recorded one personal foul, Chen three, and Hambira two.

The second game on Saturday against Dodson showed continued domination by the Lions. Once again Lenihan, Braden Ewing and Hamira kicked off the game each scoring points, making the first quarter 21 to Dodson’s five. The second quarter saw Klatt, Reddig, Ewing brothers all score two points each with Pierre sinking each opportunity at the charity stripe. Hambira helped further sore with his three two-pointers, one three pointer and one of his two successful attempts at the charity stripe. The half ended with a score of 46-11 and Dodson could not gain back control of the game in the second half, only scoring six points in the third and fourth quarter each. The fourth quarter also saw little actuion from the Lions with Klatt only scoring three points and Terron Joseph scoring two points.

Though the Lions took home the win and lead the game, there were still personal fouls. Reddig and Bryan Chen recorded two each, while Cam Reddig and Joseph recorded one each. Pierre and Byron Ewing received two personal fouls, Hadden Olfert recored one as well as did Nathan Fast. Hambria got aggressive recording four fouls during the gam.e

Lustre will receive a bye in the first round of the District 3C Basketball tournament in Glasgow. They are scheduled to play the winner of Wednesday’s Dodson versus North Country game on Thursday at 4:30 p.m.
