Scottie Boys Beat NC and Scobey

Glasgow's boys basketball team picked up two non-conference wins this past week, improving their record to 7-9 overall, 1-5 in conference play. The Scotties downed the Mavericks 67-31 at home Thursday and defeated the Spartans 56-40 in Scobey Saturday.

Glasgow fended off a young Mavericks team easily, establishing an 18-8 lead at the end of one and outscoring North Country 28-8 in the second quarter. The Scotties led 56-18 at the end of the third, while the Mavericks outscored them 13-11 in the fourth quarter.

Cade Hudyma dominated the inside game, leading Glasgow with 21 points, hitting 5-of-6 free throws, followed by Wyatt Babb with 12 points. Jordan Cook, Riley Smith, Connor Hudyma and Keigan Ingram all scored 6 points. Cook hit two three-pointers while Smith hit one. Co. Hudyma drained both his free throws. KJ Ingram hit a trey and Nick Solorzano scored 3, hitting his lone bonus shot. Toryn Richards and Vaughn Miller both added a bucket. The Scotties shot 69.2 percent at the line.

North Country was called for 13 fouls, six in the second half, while Glasgow held theirs to 10, four after the break. Myles Yoakam and Babb each drew two whistles while Solorzano, Cook, KJ Ingram, Richards, Miller and Ca. Hudyma had one foul a piece.

Ca. Hudyma led in rebounds with eight, three offensive. Ashton Potter, Yoakam and Babb all pulled down four boards. Ke. Ingram had three, Smith two, and Solorzano and Cook one rebound each.

Yoakam led in assists with five, followed by Babb and Ke. Ingram with four each. KJ Ingram added three, Miller two and Solorzano, Smith, Richards and Co. Hudyma one each.

Ke. Ingram had four steals followed by Cook with two. Solorzano, KJ Ingram, Richards and Yoakam had one takeaway each. Yoakam added two blocks to the stats sheet and Miller had one. Yoakam and Ke. Ingram each had two turnovers with Cook, KJ Ingram, Co. Hudyma, Babb and Miller giving the ball away once each.

The Scottie C squad won their half-game over the Mavericks JV team 15-14.

Glasgow led 5-1 at the end of one and 7-3 at at the half. North Country outscored Glasgow 4-2 in the third and 7-6 in the final four minutes.

Wyatt Sugg and Davis Tolzien each scored 5 to lead Glasgow followed by Cam Nelson with 4 and Kyler Whitman 1 point. Glasgow shot 45.5 percent at the free throw line.

Kenan LaBrie scored 7 for North Country with a three-pointer. Laytin Erickson added 4, Jake Brown 2 and Austin Hanley 1 point. The Mavericks shot 12.5 percent at the line.

Both teams were called for 10 fouls. North Country had seven in the second half while Glasgow had four after the break.

Trey Graham and Sugg each had three fouls for Glasgow, followed by Nelson with two and Tolzien and Jorden Wilson with one a piece.

Hanley and LaBrie drew four whistles a piece for the Mavericks while Brown and Erickson had one foul each.

Glasgow led against Scobey at the end of all four quarters Saturday night. The Scotties outscored the Spartans 12-9 in the first and led 24-18 at the half. Glasgow led 36-27 heading into the final quarter where they outpaced Scobey 20-13.

Ca. Hudyma again hit for 21 points, draining 7-of-8 bonus shots. Babb added 9 and Ke. Ingram 7 points each. Smith and KJ Ingram scored 5 each, with the latter hitting a shot from beyond the arc. Cook scored 3 while Potter, Richards and Miller scored a bucket each. The Scotties shot 73.3 percent from the line.

Scobey had 14 fouls, nine in the second half, while Glasgow was called for 11, six after intermission. Cook, Smith, Richards, Ke. Ingram and Ca. Hudyma drew two calls each while Babb had one foul.

Ke. Ingram led in rebounds with 12, five offensive, followed by Ca. Hudyma with 11, six offensive. Cook, Smith, Richards and Babb had three rebounds each. Potter grabbed two boards and KJ Ingram one. Smith and Babb led in assists with three each followed by KJ Ingram and Ke. Ingram, both with two. Potter had one assist.

Babb had three steals, Potter two and Smith one takeaway. Smith had four turnovers, Babb three, Ke. Ingram two and Co. Hudyma one giveaway. Ca. Hudyma stopped three Scobey shots while Babb had one block.

Glasgow's JV team won their game against Scobey 43-28. The score was tied at 11 at the end of one and at 15 each at the half. The Scotties outscored the Spartans 13-8 in the third and 15-5 in the fourth quarter.

Yoakam led the team with 12 points, all from downtown, followed by Ca. Hudyma with 11 points. Cook and Co. Hudyma scored 5 each and Miller hit for 4 points. Noah Runner hit a trey with Solorzano hitting a bucket and Richards going 2-for-2 at the line. Glasgow shot 58 percent at the stripe.

Scobey had nine fouls, seven after the break, while Glasgow drew eight whistles, four in each half. Richards had three fouls, Cook and Yoakam two each, and Co. Hudyma one foul.

The Scottie C squad won their game 38-20. Glasgow led 7-6 at the end of one and 22-12 at the half. They were outscored 6-5 in the third but outpaced the Spartans 11-2 in the last quarter.

Rex Monson led the team with 11, including a three-pointer. Sugg hit for 9 and Tolzien 7 points. Andy Hanson scored 5 followed by Graham with a three-pointer, Nelson 2 points and Braxton Potter 1 point. The Scotties shot 50 percent at the charity stripe.

Glasgow had eight fouls while Scobey was called for 13. Hanson had two fouls while Whitman, Graham, Sugg, B. Potter, Klay Cornwell and Tolzien each had one.

Glasgow's C team lost their Friday night game in Lustre to the Lions JV team, 75-43. Lustre held Glasgow to a single point in the first while scoring 29 points. Glasgow answered with 20 in the second while holding Lustre to 14. The Scotties trailed 60-27 heading into the fourth quarter where they outscored the Lions 16-15.

Sugg led Glasgow with 14 , followed by Hanson with 13, including a three-pointer. Graham scored 9, Wilson 3, and Runner and Cornwell 2 points each. Glasgow shot 58 percent from the line.

Cam Reddig led the Lions with 12 followed by Prestyn Klatt and Johnslee Pierre both with 10 points. Terran Joseph and Brian Guedes scored 9 each, Byron Ewing 8 and Diek Olfert 6 points. Gabe Sapp, Ife Aniobi, and Nathan Fast scored 3 each with Mason Hilkemann added 2 points. The Lions hit 30 percent of their free throws.

Glasgow had 18 fouls split evenly between the halves, while Lustre had 19, 12 in the second half.

Graham and Sugg each had four for Glasgow. Hanson was called for two fouls. Nelson, Whitman and Runner each had two while B. Potter and Wilson had one a piece.

Hilkemann drew four for Lustre and Fast had three fouls. Klatt, Vince Gonzales and Hadden Olfert drew two whistles a piece. Reddig, Joseph, Pierre, Aniobi, Emeka Aniobi and Eyosias Ayalew had one foul each.

Glasgow closes out their regular season this week with two conference games. The Scotties host Harlem for Senior Night Friday, 10, and travel to Poplar Saturday, Feb. 11.

The Scottie boys C squad will play the first game Friday, tipping off at noon, followed by the girls C game at 1:30 p.m. The boys JV game begins at 3 p.m. with the girls JV teams playing at 4:30 p.m. The varsity boys tip off at 6 with the girls varsity game scheduled for 7:30 p.m.

The K-8 Scottie Cheer Camp will perform during the boys varsity halftime. Senior Night recognition for basketball, pep band and cheer will occur between the boys and girls varsity games.

Saturday, the girls C squad and girls JV games will be at 1 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. in the Middle School gym. C boys tip off at 1 p.m. also, followed by JV boys at 2:30 p.m., in the High School gym. The varsity boys hit the court at 4 p.m. followed by the girls varsity game at 5:30 p.m., both also in the High School gym.
