A Reminder To Take Care Of Yourself This Holiday Season!

One definition of self-care is the practice of taking an active role in protecting one’s own well-being and happiness, in particular, during periods of stress. It’s very important to take the time to evaluate your own state of mind and pursue what will make you the best version of yourself. This allows you to be your best self not only for you, but those around you as well!

Some ways to start incorporating self-care habits into daily life are saying no when your plate is full, taking time in the morning or in the evening to do something you enjoy, no matter how simple, blocking out time to exercise, and taking time to meal prep for the week. What self-care means to each person will vary but the goal is the same: protect and improve your well-being.

Taking time for self-care can be challenging because much of the time, there’s so many things one could do to improve their well-being that it’s overwhelming! One should start simple. Pick one small change, do it consistently and see if it helps. Then, evaluate if you want to add more or switch up the routine that helped you take better care of yourself.

Self-care shouldn’t feel selfish. Taking time to improve one’s physical, mental, emotional and spiritual well-being should be a priority. When you pour into yourself, you’re better able to care for your friends, family, coworkers, etc.

Don’t forget to remind those around you to take care of themselves as well this holiday season. Everyone has things they’re dealing with, whether you can see them or not, and one of the best things we can do is to check on our friends and loved ones often.

If you ever need help but don’t feel comfortable taking to a friend or family member, please call or text 988. Someone is there 24/7 to be there with you!
