Scottie Girls Lose in Wolf Point

Glasgow’s girls basketball team opened their 2022-23 season with a road loss against Wolf Point. The Scotties fell to the Wolves 43-13.

Wolf Point led 8-5 at the end of the first and outscored Glasgow 12-8 in the second quarter. Glasgow outscored Wolf Point by 1 in the third, giving Wolf Point a 30-24 lead heading into the final eight minutes of play. The Wolves put up 13 in that quarter while holding the Scotties to 9 points.

As a team, Glasgow hit 22.7 percent from the field, going 4-for-17 on two pointers and 1-for-5 beyond the arc. The Scotties shot 66.7 percent from the free throw line.

Daley Aune led Glasgow in points with 10, hitting 10-for-12 at the free throw line. Joely Chappell added 9 points with a trey and 4-for-4 at the line. Carly Nelson hit 3-of-5 at the charity stripe and added 5 points. Aspen Stulc scored 4 with two free throws, Tatum Nyquist 3 points with a free throw and Kyndal Schraner added 2 on free throws.

Aune grabbed nine rebounds for the Scotties, all defensive. Schraner and Nyquist each had six while Brielle Partridge and Nelson grabbed two. Stulc and Chappell grabbed one board each.

Aune also two assists and five turnovers. Nelson had one helper and four turnovers while Chappell added an assist and turned the ball over seven times. Partridge had five turnovers, Stulc nine, Nyquist two and Schraner four.

Nelson and Stulc each had a blocked shot with Stulc also getting three steals. Chappell added four takeaways, Aune two and Nyquist one.

Glasgow’s C squad lost their game 26-22 while the JV team won 31-21. Piper Johnson led the JV team with 9 points followed by Lacey White with 6 and Hayden Green with 5 points. Chappell added 4, Riley Evenson-Glasoe 3 and Tanae Baker and Schraner 2 points each.

The Scottie JV team hit the court at home Saturday against Turner, winning 51-49, at the 10th Annual Class C Showcase.

Schraner put up 16 points for Glasgow followed by Chappell with 10 and Evenson-Glasoe with 9. Macy Martin scored 7, Johnson 6, Baker 2 and Green hit a free throw.

Glasgow’s JV and C teams hosted the Malta M-ettes Tuesday but scores were unavailable at press time. The two teams travel to Nashua this Friday, Dec. 9, for a C game at 3 p.m. and a JV game at 6 p.m.

The Scottie varsity squad travels to Red Lodge Friday and Saturday, Dec. 9 and 10, for the Woodden Memorial Tournament. Glasgow takes on the host team Friday and 8 p.m. and will face Big Timber at 12:30 p.m. Saturday.
