Scottie Boys Fall in Season Opener

The Glasgow boys basketball team made their 2022-23 regular season debut Dec. 2 in Wolf Point. The Scotties fell to the Wolves 76-54.

Wolf Point held a 21-12 lead at the end of the first quarter. They increased their lead to 14 points at the half, 45-31. After three quarters, Glasgow was behind by a 19-point margin, 62-43.

Keigan Ingram led the Scotties in scoring with 19 points. He hit four field goals and went 11-for-16 at the free throw line. Wyatt Babb added 10 points with three from the field and 4-of-7 at the line. Riley Smith added three buckets and went 2-for-2 on free throws for 8 points.

KJ Ingram contributed 7 points with three field goals and a free throw. Toryn Richards had 6 points on two field goals and two free throws. Vaughn Miller hit two from the court for 4 points.

Wolf Point was called for 18 total fouls in the game, 10 in the first half. Glasgow also had 10 fouls in the first half, but cleaned up their game in the second half with only five infractions.

Smith fouled out of the game while KJ Ingram and Babb were called for three fouls each. Nick Solorzano drew the officials’ attention twice. Richards and K. Ingram were called for one infraction a piece.

The Scottie JV squad won their game in Wolf Point by a 67-32 margin. Glasgow held an 18-10 lead after one and a 35-10 lead at the half. After three quarters the Scotties led by 25 points: 48-23.

Cade Hudyma led Glasgow in scoring with 24 points: 10 field goals and four free throws. Vaughn Miller added 14 points, hitting seven shots from the court. Andy Hanson put up 8 and Jordan Cooke connected for 7 points. Noah Runner contributed 5, Rex Monson 3 and Connor Hudyma 2 points. *Note: Some data was missing from the score sheet resulting in a discrepancy between the final score and individual points.

Wolf Point was called for 17 fouls, eight in the first half, while Glasgow drew the officials’ attention 13 times, six in the first half.

Miller had four fouls for Glasgow followed by Cook with three, one of which was a technical foul. Co. Hudyma had two fouls while Solorzano and Hanson had one each.

Glasgow’s JV team hit their home court Saturday morning against the Turner Tornadoes as part of the 10th Annual Class C Showcase. The Scotties lost to the Tornadoes 57-53.

Ca. Hudyma put up 22 points for Glasgow with 10 field goals and two free throws. Miller added 14 points including two shots from beyond the three point line. Solorzano had 8 points, including a three-pointer and three free throws. Cook added 5, Monson 3 and Co. Hudyma 1 point.

Glasgow had 17 fouls in the game, 10 in the first half, while Turner had 16, nine in the first half.

Co. Hudyma exited the game early with five fouls. Miller had four infractions while Cook and Ca. Hudyma had three each. Solorzano, Hanson and Noah Runner had one foul a piece.

The Scottie C and JV teams played Malta Tuesday afternoon in Glasgow but scores were unavailable at press time. The squads travel to Nashua Friday, Dec. 9, to play the Porcupines with the C game at 4:30 p.m. and the JV game at 7:30 p.m.

Glasgow’s varsity team will attend the Woodden Memorial Tournament in Red Lodge this Friday and Saturday, Dec. 9 and 10. The Scottie boys play Red Lodge at 6:30 p.m. Friday and Big Timber at 2 p.m. Saturday.
