Valley County 4-H Awards Day

Valley County 4-H Awards Day was held on Oct. 30 at the frigidly cold Saint Raphael’s Parish Center. Several Western Valley 4-H Club members received awards.

Cienna Strommen received a nine-year member award and Broc McColly received a first-year member award. McColly was also named one of Valley County’s Outstanding First Year Members.

Kade Strommen and Layna Jones each received their 4-H letter. Trey Johnson and Strommen received awards for their Beef projects. Cooper Albus received the Dog Project award. Michael Ketchum received an individual cooking award, and was also recognized as being a member of Cooking Club, along with Layna Jones and Zora and Linden Holt. Holt received an award for his Photography project. Strommen won an award for his Swine project. Zora Holt received an award for her recordbook.

Western Valley swept the Outstanding Officer awards, with Parliamentarian Kodi McColly, Rec Leader Kort Strommen, Reporter Linden Holt, Song Leader Broc McColly, and Treasurer Michael Ketchum all receiving awards. Cooper Albus and Zora Holt also received special awards. Albus’ was for enthusiasm, and Zora’s was for being hardworking.

Kodi McColly and Cienna Strommen won leadership awards, and Trey Johnson won a camp leadership award for his help at Cloverbud Camp.

After the awards ceremony, Linden Holt and Kade Strommen attended a meeting for those interested in attending the upcoming D.C. trip.
