Valley Community Emergency Food Bank Helps The Community

The Valley Community Emergency Food Bank, Inc. would like to share with the community the new Board Members:

Mary Hughes, Chairman

Kathy Smith, Vice Chairman

Brenda Tarum, Treasurer

Nanci Schoenfelder, Secretary

Members At Large: Laurie Koessl, Jory Wall, Jeff Remus and Hollie Young

The Food Bank has been very busy with an increased number of participants receiving food. There are more and more people in our community in need of food bank assistance. We are looking forward to this fall season as we are now able to receive wild game. We are part of the Hunters for Hunger Program, which allows hunters to take their game to Treasure Trail Processing and let them know that they would like to donate their game to the local food bank.

Treasure Trail will cut, wrap and test the meat for chronic waste disease. They will then contact the food bank when it is ready to be picked up. Anyone wanting to help with this program can donate money to the Hunters for Hunger program when they purchase their tag. The cost of cutting and wrapping is paid from the donations received by this program.

We also participate in the Town Pump Charitable Foundation "Montanans Helping Montanans" program. During the months of September, October and November all monetary donations will be matched up to $3000. The campaign slogan for this year's Town Pump program is "Be A Friend In Deed, Help Those In Need." The Valley Community Emergency Food Bank is a 501c3 corporation, so your donations could be a tax benefit. If you would like to make a donation please send to P.O. Box 63, Glasgow, MT 59230.

We want to thank our community for the continued support we receive. We are not a county, state or federal program. We purchase the majority of our food items from the donations we receive. We also welcome the food items received from our donation box at Reynolds, the church groups who collect food items and all others who collect food for the food bank.

It is all appreciated and needed to help keep those in need fed.
