Serving Proudly As The Voice Of Valley County Since 1913

Patrick (Pat) Lemieux

Patrick (Pat) Lemieux, 80, of Hinsdale, Mont., passed away surrounded by his wife Laura and members of his church family on Aug. 2, 2022, at FMDH in Glasgow.

Pat was born in Malta, Mont., on March 16, 1942, to Hubert and Monna (Brown) Lemieux. He and his older sister Peggy moved with their parents to various places throughout the state, from Ruby Gulch, Butte and finally to Wagner, where Pat started school. They lived on a small homestead there, where they raised sheep for many years. At the age of 10, Pat's father Hubert passed away and the family moved to Malta where in 1954, Monna remarried Marius Larsen and they and their children moved to a small farm east of Hinsdale.

Pat loved the farm lifestyle and living in the country. After high school, he attended Helena Vo-Tech and met and later married his wife Laura (Olson) Lemieux on July 25, 1970. Together they took over the family farm and started a family of their own, with the addition of their son John and daughter April. From chickens to cows, pigs to rabbits and even a donkey once, the family raised a variety of animals. They also bred several litters of registered Border Collies, which were a handful at times but also brought great joy. Pat's favorite animal though was the Appaloosa horse, of which he owned many over the years. When he and Laura decided to move into town in 1994, Pat brought along his chickens, so that he could still have some connection to the farm life he had so loved.

Pat suffered a back injury in 1982 that left him disabled and as the years passed and his health deteriorated, Laura became his unfailing and steadfast caretaker until the physical strain became more than she could withstand. In February of 2022, the difficult decision was made for Pat's continued care to be taken over by Valley View Nursing Home in Glasgow.

Pat is preceded in death by his parents Hubert Lemieux and Monna Larsen, stepfather Marius Larsen and sister Margaret (Peggy) Torstenson. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Laura (Hinsdale), children April and John (Helena), grandson Jonah (Havre), brother Larry (Tacoma) as well as several step siblings.

A small memorial will be held on Saturday, Aug. 20, at the Hinsdale Legion Hall at 2 p.m.
