"The kids played hard, just a way different set up than we are used to," said head coach Todd Truscott. He added, "So proud of Riley. He played awesome." Smith's state runner-up finish marks the best finish by a Scottie boys golfer in school history. The junior also captured his third All-State finish, joining the ranks of Dale Squires who was honored in 1979, 1980 and 1981, and Truscott who earned the honor in 2004 and 2005.

Truscott also noted, "We will miss Rance." Rhoads concluded his final year of high school golf at the state tournament.
