Scotties Win Northern B Divisional Titles

Malta and Glasgow did battle at the Northern B Divisional meet in Great Falls Saturday, but at the end of the day, the Scotties tallied more points than the Mustangs and M-ettes to claim the top spots. The Scotties drew out the drama of the day, waiting until the final events of the day – the boys' and girls' 4x400 relays – to secure their victories.

The Glasgow girls' team scored 120.33 points, outpacing Malta's 107, for their ninth title in the past 11 years and 16th in school history. The Scottie girls set 14 personal bests at the meet.

Glasgow sends 11 Scottie girls to the State meet this weekend: Tanae Baker, Kheyerah Bilger, He'lena Deavila, Tyann Graham, Ava Lloyd, Iris McKean, Nora Neumiller, Kambria Ross, Emily See, Eve Stone and Blaire Westby.

The Scottie boys took first with 82 points, a mere point ahead of the Mustangs, after taking third in the boys' 4x400 relay while Malta placed fifth. The title is the 26th in school history and marks the seventh time in 10 years Glasgow has brought home the first-place trophy from the Divisional meet. The Scottie boys set 15 personal bests at the Divisional meet.

Glasgow will be represented by 13 Scottie boys at the state meet: Wyatt Babb, Stephen Bailey, Tatum Hansen, Kyler Holinde, Reed Larsen, Blake Lloyd, Bergen Miller, Vaughn Miller, Toryn Richards, Dalton Sand, Nick Solarzano, Lane Thompson and Ted Tryan.

BOYS

Track

Larsen, B. Miller and Holinde took fourth, fifth and sixth in the 3200 meters, respectively, to start the day. Larsen ran a personal best 10:33.82, Miller ran the race in 11:05.83 and Holinde finished in 11:08.04.

B. Lloyd, Solarzano, Richards and Tryan took sixth place in the 4x100 relay with a time of 47.17.

Hansen finished ninth in the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 45.98 while Mason Donaldson's personal best time of 46.55 put him in 10th place.

Sand won the 800 meters with a season best time of 2:03.09. Holinde set a personal record at 2:09.40 and finished in fourth place. Larsen's 2:13.63 time put him in sixth place.

Babb set a personal record in the 100 meters and finished in 12th place with his 12.35 time. Hansen ran a 12.38 and finished in 13th place.

Hansen won the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 16.69, a personal best. Donaldson and Bailey also set personal records in the event. Donaldson finished in seventh with a time of 18.60 while Bailey ran an 18.68 for eighth place.

Sand, B. Lloyd and Tryan ran the 400 meters. Sand finished ninth at 55.97, Lloyd's season record 56.76 put him in 10th and Tryan ran a 58.24 for 12th place.

Larsen, Holinde and Sand placed fourth, fifth and sixth in the 1600 meters, respectively. Larsen ran a 4:45.73, Holinde a 5:01.76 and Sand finished in 5:05.48.

Babb set a personal record and Hansen a season record in the 200 meters. Babb ran a 24.64 for eighth place and Hansen placed 10th with his 24.97 time.

B. Lloyd, Tryan, Larsen and Sand earned third place in the 4x400 relay – and secured the Scotties' title – with a time of 3:40.00.

Field

Babb set a personal record and took third place in the long jump with a leap of 19-10.00. Richards and Bailey tied for 10th place, each jumping 17-05.00. The jump was a personal best for Bailey.

V. Miller took second in the javelin with a 156-07 throw. Donaldson just missed the podium, placing seventh, with a 137-11 throw. Noah Lippert threw 105-01 for 11th place.

Bailey won the pole vault after clearing a personal best 13-06.00. Tryan took fourth place with an 11-00.00 vault and Thompson cleared a season record 10-06.00 for fifth place. Hansen finished in eighth place, clearing 9-00.00 and Solarzano set a personal record at 8-06.00 for a ninth-place tie.

Bailey, Solarzano and Richards competed in the long jump. Bailey jumped 36-06.00 for eighth place while Solarzano's personal best 35-08.00 earned him 10th place. Richards took 11th place with a 35-00.00 jump.

B. Miller threw 127-00 in discus for third place while V. Miller finished in ninth place with a 102-03.50 throw.

Babb, Bailey and V. Miller competed in the high jump. Babb's personal record 5-04.00 put him in a seventh-place tie while Bailey and V. Miller ended up in a four-way tie after clearing 5-02.00.

GIRLS

Track

McKean, Baker and See started off the girls' track action going first, second and fourth in the 3200 meters, respectively. McKean ran an 11:57.34. Baker set a personal record at 12:05.15 and See ran a 12:33.25.

Deavila, A. Lloyd, Graham and Neumiller kept the momentum going with a third place finish in the 4x100 relay. The foursome ran a 54.22, just two one-hundredths out of second place.

Westby set a personal record – and took sixth – in the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 53.37.

McKean earned her second victory of the day in the 800 meters. She ran a personal best 2:24.51. came in second with her time of 2:28.43, a personal best. See also set a personal record at 2:36.11 and finished in eighth place.

Westby took second in the 100 meters with a time of 13.48. Neumiller ran a 14.18 for ninth place and A. Lloyd set a personal record of 14.21 for 10th place.

Ross earned fifth in the 100 meter hurdles wit a time of 18.49, a personal best.

Westby and A. Lloyd also earned trips to the state meet in the 400 meters. Westby ran a season best 1:04.90 for fourth place and A. Lloyd's personal best 1:05.99 put her in fifth place.

McKean took her third first-place in the 1600 meters, running a 5:30.17. Baker placed second at 5:34.61 and See set a season record 5:47.50 for fourth place.

Westby earned more points in the 200 meters with a second place finish and a time of 27.78. A. Lloyd took 11th place with a 29.57 time.

Deavila, A. Lloyd, Baker and McKean combined forces for a second place finish in the 4x400 relay. The four cemented the Scotties title with a time of 4:25.84.

Field

Stone finished the high jump in a three-way tie for fourth place after clearing 4-06.00.

Stone jumped 30-03.50 in the triple jump for seventh place. Haylly Turner took 10th place with a 27-02.50 leap.

In girls' pole vault, Stone finished second after clearing 9-00.00. Graham cleared 7-06.00 for fifth place and Westby finished in seventh after vaulting 7-00.00. See set a personal best and finished in ninth, clearing 7-00.00.

Stone also earned a trip to the state meet in the long jump. She leaped 14-07.00 for third place. Turner jumped 14-01.00, a personal best, and finished just off the podium in seventh place.

The State Class B Track and Field Meet will be held Thursday through Saturday, May 26-28, at Memorial Stadium in Great Falls.
