Scobey-Opheim Track Keeps Winning

Opheim's tracksters continued to help propel the Unified Scobey-Opheim track teams to top spots at their final regular season meets this past week.

Opheim sent four athletes – Cole Taylor, Bo Anderson, Carrie Taylor and Mandy Fuhrmann – to the Norm Girard North/East Top Ten meet on Tuesday.

Carrie Taylor and Fuhrmann helped the Scobey-Opheim girls to first place with 165 points at the Gene Nelson Memorial Friday in Wolf Point and another first place – at the time the meet was called for weather – at Hinsdale's Jean Dreikosen Memorial meet in Glasgow Saturday.

Cole Taylor, Bo Anderson and James Landles played a part in Scobey's second place finish in Wolf Point with 136.5 points and their first place 97-point performance in Glasgow.

Carrie Taylor took third in the girls' javelin at the Top Ten meet with a throw of 112-10 while Fuhrmann placed ninth in high jump after clearing 4-08.00.

Anderson finished seventh in triple jump with a 38-01.00 leap. Cole Taylor ran the 800 meters in 2:20.36 for ninth place and ran a leg for the 4x400 relay team which took sixth with a time of 3:50.48.

Fuhrmann made the podium in four events at the Gene Nelson meet: 100 meter hurdles, 300 meter hurdles, high jump and 4x100 relay. She took third in the 100m hurdles with a time of 19.13 and fourth in the 300m hurdles with a time of 57.65. She cleared 4-08.00 in the high jump for third place and the relay team also took third with a time of 59.15. Fuhrmann placed 15th in the long jump with a leap of 11-10.25.

Carrie Taylor earned points in shot put and javelin, while also competing in the discus and long jump. Her 28-00.00 throw in shot put placed her in sixth. She also placed sixth in javelin, throwing 89-10. Carrie Taylor took ninth in discus with a throw of 74-09 and 19th in long jump with a personal record leap of 10-08.00.

Anderson won the boys' long jump, setting a personal record at 18-11.75. He took second in triple jump with a leap of 38-09.75. He earned fifth in the 400 meters with a personal best 1:00.56. Anderson also ran anchor on the winning 4x400 relay team, which finished in 3:57.98.

Cole Taylor ran the second leg of that 4x400 relay. He placed fifth in the 1600 meters run with a time of 5:27.78 and sixth in the 800 meters at 2:24.01. He took fifth in the javelin with his 115-02 throw and eighth in discus with a personal record 98-10 throw.

Landles set personal bests in the 100 meters – 13.36 – and 200 meters – 27.80 – finishing in 10th and 16th in the races. He finished in seventh place in the 1100 meter hurdles, running a 23.8, and ninth in the 300 meter hurdles with a 55.01 time. Landles set another personal record in the long jump – 15-05.50 – and took 18th place.

At the Jean Dreikosen Memorial, Fuhrmann turned in another impressive day. She tied for first in the high jump, clearing 4-04.00. She ran the first leg o the second place 4x100 relay team, which finished in 1:02.72. Fuhrmann took fourth in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 20.76 and fourth in the long jump with an 11-09.50 jump. She ran the 300 meter hurdles in 1:00.91 for fifth place.

Carrie Taylor took sixth in the girls' discus with a season record 84-09 throw.

Anderson won the boys' long jump at 18-05.00. Landles took 13th with a 15-01.00 jump. He placed third in the 300 meter hurdles with a personal best 54.57 and fifth in the 110 meter hurdles at 23.05.

Cole Taylor set a personal record – 2:19.40 – in the boys 800 meters for second place and threw 112-03 for fifth place in the javelin.

The Unified Scobey-Opheim Spartans begin their postseason Saturday, May 14, at the District 2B/3C Track Meet in Glasgow with events beginning at 9 a.m.
