Hinsdale senior Trey Johnson was gifted a star quilt by Frazer senior Keein Ackerman Friday, Feb. 18, during the District 3C Basketball Tournament in Wolf Point. The tradition dates back to 1947, making this the 75th anniversary of the first star quilt gifting at a basketball game in Northeast Montana. The beloved basketball tradition began when a Blount matriarch wrapped a star quilt around her grandson. Look for further coverage of the star quilt tradition in an upcoming edition of the Courier.
