Scottie Boys Split Final Weekend of Regular Season in Two Road Games

The Scottie boys split their games in the final weekend of the regular season to finish with an 8-10 overall record, 3-5 conference. They enter the District 2B Tournament this weekend as the fourth seed.

Friday night in Harlem the Scotties fell to the Wildcats and their strong outside game, 88-64. Saturday night in Poplar Glasgow waged a comeback against the Indians to send the game into overtime. The Scotties owned the extra frame to end the regular season with a 63-37 conference win.

The Wildcats put up 21 points in the first quarter and doubled their score in the second quarter. At the same time they held the Scotties to 16 and 13 points.

Glasgow scored 17 in the third quarter but Harlem's scoring streak continued with 34 points, giving the home team a 76-46 advantage heading into the final eight minutes. The Scotties had their strongest quarter with 18 points in the fourth but the Wildcats maintained the edge with 12 of their own.

Four Scotties hit double-digit scoring. Keigan Ingram led the team with 19 points, including a three-pointer and going 4-for-7 from the line. Riley Smith added 17 points, going 7-for-8 on free throws. Wyatt Babb scored 13 points with a trey and KJ Ingram scored 11 points. Ashton Potter and Bergen Miller each added a field goal.

Glasgow had 14 fouls, four in the second half. Dalton Sand, Babb and KJ Ingram had three fouls each. Smith and K. Ingram had two each and Potter a single infraction.

The Scottie JV squad turned in a decisive 65-30 victory, leading at the end of each quarter.

Vaughn Miller scored 18 points for Glasgow followed by Nic Solorzano with 11, Myles Yoakam with 9, and Toryn Richards with 8 points. Jordan Cook and Ty Westby both had 6 points. Aiden Hoerster hit a trey while Nate Hentges and Connor Hudyma both connected on a field goal.

In Poplar on Saturday, Glasgow trailed at the end of each of the first three quarters: 12-10, 23-18 and 36-31. Glasgow fired up the offense in the fourth quarter with 17 points while holding Poplar to 13 to force extra time.

The Scotties took full advantage of their trips to the charity stripe in overtime, going 9-for-10 at the line. With the addition of three field goals, Glasgow outscored their hosts 15-9 for the win.

Glasgow's win came despite losing Babb early in the first quarter to an ankle injury. The freshman's return for the District Tournament this week is questionable.

Smith led the team with 20 points, hitting a three pointer and going 3-for-3 on free throws. K. Ingram added 17 points and Miller scored 14, going 5-for-6 on bonus shots. KJ Ingram and Babb scored 6 a piece. K. Ingram and Miller led in assists with 2 each while KJ Ingram and Sand had one each.

K. Ingram pulled down 16 rebounds for the Scotties. Miller had seven boards, Smith six, Babb 5, Sand three, and KJ Ingram and Potter two rebounds each. K. Ingram had two steals while Miller and Sand had one each.

The Scotties held their fouls to 10, six in the second half. Smith was called for four, Sand three, K. Ingram two and KJ Ingram one.

Glasgow's JV team earned their second win of the weekend, defeating Poplar's JV team 58-31. The Scotties led 7-5, 26-10 and 40-24 in the first three quarters.

Cook, 14, and Miller, 13, led the team in scoring. Richards, Hoerster and Westby scored 5 points a piece. Hudyma and Solorzano had 4 each, Potter 3, and Hentges and Yoakam had 2 points a piece.

The Scotties had eight fouls, five in the second half. Hudyma had two while Richards, Hoerster, Westby, Solorzano, Yoakam and Potter each had a single infraction.

Glasgow's varsity squad enters the post-season this week with the District 2B tournament in Glasgow. The Scotties face the Poplar Indians in the first round with a game at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 17.
