Bantam Dawgs Win Dog Fight

Glasgow’s Bantam Ice Dawgs won both games against the Bozeman Ice Dogs this past weekend in Glasgow. Friday night Glasgow downed the visitors 5-2. The Dawgs won Saturday’s game by a 7-goal margin, 9-2.

The Dawgs established control of the games in the first period of game one, putting up three unanswered goals. Hudson Honey scored the first with help from JP Cornwell and Bode Barnett. Tavin Boland added the second for Glasgow. Barnett concluded the period with a goal. JP Cornwell earned the assist.

Glasgow put up two more goals in the second to carry a 5-0 lead into the final period. Barnett, assist Boland, netted the first. They reversed roles for the next goal.

Bozeman added two goals in the third period but Glasgow held on for the win.

Jacob Potter faced 20 shots in net while Glasgow’s offense sent 27 pucks at the Bozeman goaltender.

The Dawgs were called for only two penalties, both in the second period. Barnett sat for tripping and Charlie Cornwell was sent to the box for interference.

The team sent five players to the box in Saturday’s game, but also racked up more goals in their 9-2 win.

Glasgow scored three in the first period while one Bozeman puck found its way past Potter.

Reilly Llewellyn scored first for Glasgow with an assist from Landon Honey. Ian Anderson found the back of the net next with help from Kimber Dulaney.

Bozeman scored once but Barnett took Glagsow’s lead to 3-1.

The Dawgs scored three more times in the second while Potter shut out the visitors. JP Cornwell; Boland, assists L. Honey and H. Honey; and Barnett, assist Dulaney, put Glasgow up 6-1 at intermission.

Barnett, assist Llewellyn, took the Dawgs to 7-1 before Bozeman added their final goal of the game. H.Honey, assists L. Honey and Boland, and Llewelly, assist Boland, sealed the victory for Glasgow.

Potter turned away 21 shots while the offense threw 26 pucks at the Bozeman net.

Glasgow had one penalty in the first when Barnett sat for cross checking. C. Cornwell was called for head contact and a boarding misconduct in the second. Boland, roughing, and Barnett, cross checking, took involuntary seats in the third period.

The Bantams will host Williston for two games Sunday, March 6.
