19U Ice Dawgs Defeated by Bruins

Glasgow’s 19U Ice Dawgs dropped their two road games in Missoula this past weekend. A tough Bruins team won game one on Friday 10-2. Glasgow battled back Saturday morning but still trailed 5-3 when the final horn sounded.

Missoula took a 5-0 lead after the first period Friday night and added four more before intermission.

Both of Glasgow’s first game goals came in the second period. Victoria Pehlke scored less than a minute into the period and assisted on a goal by Tatum Provencher three seconds later.

Missoula took their score to double digits in the final period.

The Dawgs served 14 minutes on seven penalties while Missoula held their infractions to two.

Provencher, checking; Ava Lloyd, hooking; Kylie Lagerquist, interference and again for body checking, served time in the second period. Delaney Rixford, cross checking, and Provencher, two interference calls, took involuntary seats in the third period.

Glasgow put up 19 shots on goal while Rixford fended off 37 shots while allowing 10 goals.

In an early morning meet-up on Saturday, the Bruins again leapt out as they established a 3-0 lead after one period.

The Dawgs outscored the Bruins 2-1 in the second while each team found the back of the net once in the third.

Kylie Lagerquist put Glasgow on the big board in the second with an even strength goal midway through the period. Provencher netted a shorted just over two minutes later.

Phoenix Phipps scored Glasgow’s final goal in the third period with an assist from Molly Whitmer.

The Dawgs were called for seven penalties. K. Lagerquist sat for interference in the first period.

Provencher, body checking; Lloyd, hooking, and K. Lagerquest, body checking, were sent to the sin bin in the second period. In the third Rixford, cross checking, and Provencher, two interference calls, drew the officials’ attention.

Rixford faced 37 pucks between the pipes while her teammates put 22 shots on the Bruins’ goal.

The 19U Ice Dawgs will be on the road this weekend for four games at Woodland Park in Kalispell. Glasgow faces off against Salmon Friday, Feb. 18, at 3 p.m. and Saturday, Feb. 19 at 10:30 a.m. The Ice Dawgs take on the Flathead Fusion at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday and again at 7 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 20.
