Scottie Girls Add Two Wins to Record

The Scottie girls basketball team added two non-conference wins to their record this past weekend. Glasgow defeated the Class C Scobey Spartans 34-32 Thursday night and then defeated the Class A Eagles in Sidney Friday night by a 20-point margin, 49-29.

Glasgow took a 16-8 lead after one quarter in Scobey and led 22-15 at the half. They fended off the Spartans rally in the second half as Scobey outscored Glasgow 10-5 in the third. Both teams scored 7 points in the final eight minutes as the Scotties held on to their lead for the win.

Sabrina Harsh led all scorers with 17 points, going 5-for-6 at the charity stripe. Abrianna Nielsen put up 10 points, including two three-pointers. Tyann Graham added 5 and Daley Aune connected on two free throws. Blaire Westby had four assists to lead the Scotties followed by Aune with three and Graham with two. Nielsen and Harsh had one each.

Graham pulled down eight rebounds for Glasgow while Nielsen and Harsh had five each. Westby had three boards, Aune two and Carly Nelson and Aspen Stulc one each. Nielsen and Graham led the team in steals with three each while Westby had one and Aune, Nelson and Harsh had one each.

The Scotties were called for 13 fouls, six in the second half. Westby had four, Graham and Aune three each, Nelson and Nielsen two a piece and Harsh one.

Opheim’s Carrie Taylor, playing for the Unified Scobey-Opheim team, scored 12 points, went 2-for-2 at the line and had three fouls.

The Glasgow JV squad dropped their game by a score of 40-22. Macy Martin scored 6 points for Glasgow while Tanae baker and Aspen Stulc added 4 each. Stevie Hartwell and Allie Palm scored three free throws a piece and Brielle Partridge added a field goal.

In Sidney on Friday, the Scotties took a 10-7 lead after eight minutes and increased their lead to 10 points at the half, 23-13. They carried a 32-20 lead into the final quarter and outscored the Eagles 17-9 in the last eight minutes.

Nielsen put 14 points on the scoreboard, including two shots from downtown. Graham connected for 10 points, Aune added 9, Nelson 8, Harsh 7 and Tatum Nyquist hit a free throw. Graham and Aune each had two assists for the Scotties and Nielsen and Nyquist added one a piece.

Aune also led in rebounds with seven. Westby had five boards and Harsh also had five, all offensive. Nelson pulled down four rebounds, Graham three and Nielsen and Nyquist one each. Aune had eight steals to lead Glasgow while Graham had five, Westby three and Nielsen one.

Glasgow had 13 fouls. Nelson was called for four, Westby three and Nielsen two. Graham, Aune, Harsh and Nyquist were called for one infraction each.

The Scotties’ JV team brought home a 36-32 victory. Nyquist led the team with 14 points. Hayden Green scored 6 and Allie Palm 5 points. Hartwell scored 4 and Partridge, Stulc and Piper Johnson scored 2 a piece.

Glasgow’s C squad fell by a score of 32-14. Eve Stone led the Scotties with 11 points, including five free throws. Emmah Mix scored 3 and Addi Zoanni netted a free throw.

Glasgow travels to Malta on Thursday, Jan. 27. The JV boys will play at 3 p.m. in the old gym. The Scottie girls C squad plays at 3 p.m. in the new gym, followed by JV girls at 4:30 p.m. The varsity girls play at 6 p.m. followed by the varsity boys at 7:30 p.m. Games in the main gym will by on the NFHS Network and varsity games will be live on KLTZ radio. The boys C squad played Monday evening.

Friday, Jan. 28, the Scotties host the Wolf Point Wolves for Super Hero Night. C squad girls play at noon followed by the boys C squad at 1:30 p.m.The girls’ JV game starts at 3 p.m. followed by the boy’s JV at 4:30 p.m. Girls varsity starts at 6 p.m. and the boys varsity concludes the day with a 7:30 p.m. start time.

The Scotties are back on the road Saturday, Jan. 29, taking on the North Country Mavericks in Saco. JV girls kick off the action at 1 p.m. followed by a half-game for the JV boys at 2:30 p.m. Varsity girls play at 3:30 p.m and the varsity boys begin at 5 p.m.
