Scottie Girls Lose Conference Match-up Against Malta

Glasgow's girls basketball team, knocked down by sickness, found themselves knocked down another notch Wednesday night when the Malta M-ettes came to town. The visiting team took early control of the game while the Scotties struggled in most aspects of their game. Malta won the Color Rush Night match-up 46-19.

Malta team took a 12-3 lead after the Scotties went 3-for-6 at the free throw line in the first quarter. Carly Nelson was the only Scottie to score in the first. Glasgow was held to three points again in the second quarter while Malta put up 11 points.

Glasgow was outscored 11-6 in the third quarter and 12-7 in the final eight minutes as Malta rolled to victory.

Ten of the Scotties' 19 points came from their 14 attempts at the charity stripe. Tyann Graham went 4-for-4 and put up a three-pointer to lead the Scotties with 7 points. Daley Aune scored 6 points, 2-for-4 at the line. Nelson added a field goal to her three free throws for 5 points and Blaire Westby scored 1 point.

Glasgow played a clean game with only six fouls split evenly in the halves. Graham was called for two while Westby, Aune, Nelson and Brielle Partridge were called for one each.

The Scotties were missing starter Abrianna Nielsen and sixth-man Tatum Nyquist in the match-up.

The JV team also dropped their rivalry match, losing 47-21.

The visiting M-ettes held a 12-8 lead at the end of the first and went into the half up 23-10. They put up 12 points in each the third and fourth quarters while holding the Scotties to 6 and 5 points in those same quarters.

Hayden Green led Glasgow with 6 points. Allie Palm and Partridge scored 4 each. Tanae Baker, Addison Young and Piper Johnson each connected for a field goal while Eve Stone hit a free throw.

The JV squad also held their fouls to six total, three in each half. Palm was called for four while Riley Evenson-Glasoe and Stone were each called for one.

The C Squads met in Scottie Gymnasium Monday night. The visiting M-ettes held a 14-8 lead at the half before going on to win 37-19.

Johnson scored 5 points to lead the squad, going 3-for-4 at the line. Green scored 4 points, Macy Martin 3 while Young and Mary Dykema added 2 each. Summer Strommen, Addi Zoanni and Stone each added a free throw.

The Scotties were called for 16 fouls, split evenly between the halves. Martin was called for three. Evenson-Glasoe, Abby Kulczyk, Stone and Green each had two fouls. Kheyerah Bilger, Strommen Johnson, Zoannie and Emmah Mix were called for one foul a piece.

The Scotties return to the hardwood after the holiday break Thursday, Jan. 6, 2022, when the North Country Mavericks will be in town. The girls' JV game will begin at 3:30 p.m., followed by the boys' JV game at 5 p.m. The girls' varsity game is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. and the boys' game is slated for 8 p.m.

Glasgow travels to Scobey Saturday, Jan. 8, 2022 to take on the Spartans. Games will begin at 2:30 p.m.
