HS Ice Dawgs Win Two in Billings

The Glasgow Ice Dawgs high school team added two to their win column this past weekend with two games over Billings. Glasgow defeated Billings 3-1 Saturday and 7-1 Sunday morning in the Magic City.

Game one between the two team saw a scoreless tie after 17 minutes of play. Billings struck first in the game 2:40 into the second period.

A goal from Michael Hoyer, assist Colter Barnett, tied the game two and a half minutes later. Mason Hunter, with an assist from Peyton Hubbard, put up the go-ahead goal one minute 19 seconds later.

In the third period, Trevor Dulaney sealed the Dawgs' win 9:24 after the intermission.

Glasgow goaltender Aidin Wilkowski had a 96.0 save percentage in earning the win, turning away 24 of 25 Billings' attempts. Glasgow put up 36 shots on goal in the game.

Billings served 10 minutes on five penalties while Glasgow had eight infractions for 24 minutes in the penalty box.

Barnett served two roughing penalties, Gage Siefert one roughing penalty and the team was called for too may men on the ice in the second period. In the third period Hoyer was called for hooking, Barnett for interference and Tristan Powell for boarding and misconduct (a 2-and-10).

Back on the ice Sunday morning Billings again struck first, this time in the first period. However, Glasgow answered twice before the buzzer sounded. Barnett found the back of the net after 11:26 had elapsed and again two minutes later to give the Dawgs a 2-1 lead after 17 minutes.

The Dawgs found their way past the Billings netminder four more times in the second period as they rolled to victory. Aiden Price, assists Zevin Kummerfeldt and Hoyer, struck just 46 seconds into the second. Tatum Hansen, assist Josh Llewellyn, was next to put the biscuit in the net. Peyton Hubbard scored a power play goal with 16 seconds remaining before intermission.

Glasgow continued to roll in the third with goals from Dulaney, assist Hansen, and Barnett on another man-advantage.

Billings had nine penalties, 26 minutes, while Glasgow was called for 11 infractions, 38 minutes.

In the first period Hubbard, interference; Kummerfeldt, cross-checking; Hunter, roughing and Sam Knierim, roughing, all took seats in the sin bin. Kummerfeldt served Glasgow's lone second period penalty, sitting for elbowing.

Hansen took a 2-and-10 in the third for roughing and misconduct. Kummerfeldt was cited for tripping. Siefert also took a 2-and-10 for roughing and misconduct. Powell was sent to the box for interference.

Kolten Hansen earned the win between the pipes for Glasgow, turning away 21 of 22 shots on his net for a 95.5 save percentage. Glasgow put 24 shots on net at the other end of the ice.

The Ice Dawgs host Whitefish on Saturday, Jan. 8, 2022 for an 8 p.m. game. The two teams will be back on the ice at the Valley Event Center that Sunday, Jan. 9, 2022 at 8 a.m.
