Frazer Girls Drop Two

The Bearcubs girls basketball team dropped two games this past week, losing to a tough Spartans team 46-11 in Scobey on Thursday, and dropping a home game 51-33 to Froid/Medicine Lake on Friday.

Scobey went up 7-2 at the end of the first quarter and 20-9 at the half. They shut out Frazer in the third while putting up 12 points. In the final quarter, Scobey scored 14 points while holding Frazer to 2 points.

Frazer had five players put up points in the game. Bailey Beston led with 3 while Isabelle Even, Evelyn Yellow Hammer, Audrey Smoker and Angeline White added two each. Opheim's Carrie Tyalor led the Spartans in scoring with 14, including going 4-for-4 at the free throw line.

The Bearcubs had 18 fouls in the game, 11 in the second half. Beston and Smoker were called for four each. Even, Liana Jackson, Yellow Hammer, Angel Nelligan and White had two apiece.

Frazer cleaned up their game Friday night, holding their fouls to eight in the game with six in the second half, but still fell to Froid/Medicine Lake.

The visitors put up 16 points in the first quarter while shutting out the hosts. Frazer rallied in the second quarter with 11 points, including two treys, but Froid/Medicine Lake added 8 points to take a 24-11 lead into halftime.

Frazer put up 11 points in each the third and fourth quarters, but Froid/Medicine Lake outpaced them with 12 and 15 points in the same frames.

Shakyra Beston led the Bearcubs with 9 points while Nelligan added 8. Both of them drained a three-pointer, as did Jackson, who had 7 points. B. Beston scored 5 and Even added 4 points.

Even, Smoker and Jackson had two fouls each while S. Beston and White had one a piece.

The Frazer Bearcubs will be back in action on Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2022, when they host the Poplar Indians with games starting at 5:30 p.m. The will be in Nashua on Friday, Jan. 22, 2022, with games starting at 6 p.m. On Saturday, Jan. 8, 2022, they travel to Lustre with games beginning at 5:30 p.m.
