Frazer Boys 0-2

Frazer Bearcubs

The Bearcubs boys basketball team lost to the Spartans in Scobey, 81-24, on Thursday and dropped an 89-41 game to Froid/Medicine Lake at home on Friday.

The notoriously strong Spartans – who now own the all-class record for consecutive victories in boys basketball with 57 – wasted no time in running up the score on their home court. They held a 50-11 lead at the half before winning 81-24. They held the Bearcubs to single digits in each quarter.

Keein Ackerman led Frazer with 12 points, including two from downtown. Jonathan Jackson scored 5 points and Blue Fettig added 3, both of whom connected from outside. John Hotomanie and Ty Fourstar scored 2 points a piece. Opheim's Bo Anderson scored 6 points for the Spartans.

Frazer held their fouls to four total, with only one in the second half. Fettig was called for two. Hotomanie, Jackson and Ackerman were called for one each.

The Bearcubs did not fare much better against Froid/Medicine Lake but did hit double-digit scoring in the second and third quarters with 16 and 10 points, respectively, and they sank eight three-pointers in the game. Despite the strong performances, the guests held a 49-23 lead at the half before going on to win 89-41.

Ackerman again led Frazer in scoring with 14 points, including three treys. Joseph Beston connected on two three-pointers and added 10 points. Fourstar scored 7, Jackson 5, Fettig 3 and Travis Long 2 points.

Frazer had only six fouls in the game, split evenly between the halves. Jarvis Goodbird and Beston had two each while Jackson and Fettig were called for one a piece.

The Frazer Bearcubs will be back in action on Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2022, when they host the Poplar Indians with games starting at 5:30 p.m. The will be in Nashua on Friday, Jan. 22, 2022, with games starting at 6 p.m. On Saturday, Jan. 8, 2022, they travel to Lustre with games beginning at 5:30 p.m.
