Glasgow Girls Stumble in Opener

Fall 52-48 in Wolf Point

The Glasgow Scottie girls team stumbled in their opening match-up. Glasgow held a one-point advantage at the half, but Wolf Point came out strong in the third and fourth quarters to take the 52-48 victory on their home court.

Glasgow scored 12 points in the first quarter, compared to Wolf Point’s 5, and 12 more in the second quarter. However, the home team rallied with 18 points to bring them within one at intermission. Fouls cost the home team as they sent Glasgow to the charity stripe 21 times in the first half with the Scotties converting on 11 of their attempts.

In the third quarter, the Wolves put up 18 points while holding the Scotties to 10. Glasgow outscored Wolf Point by a margin of 14-11 in the fourth but were unable to overcome the Wolves’ lead.

Daley Aune led the Scotties with 19 points, including five free throws. Blaire Westby added 9 points, also with five free throws. Carly Nelson connected for 8 and Tyann Graham had 6 points. Abrianna Nielsen and Aspen Stulc added 2 points each.

Glasgow had 8 fouls in the first half and seven in the second. Wolf Point had 15 fouls in the first half and seven in the second. Nielsen fouled out while Westby had four fouls. Graham and Nelson had three each.

Glasgow had a 55% success rate at the free throw line while the Wolves shot 47% at the line. The Scotties had 11 turnovers in the game while Wolf Point limited theirs to five.

Glasgow’s C-squad and JV teams also suffered defeats in their opening games. The Scottie C-squad lost 32-2 and the JV fell by a score of 43-34.

Glasgow’s JV girls team will attend the Wolf Point Tip-Off Tournament Friday and Saturday, Dec. 10-11. They will play Frazer on Friday at 3 p.m. and Lustre at noon on Saturday.

The Scottie varsity team will attend the Red Lodge High School Wooden Memorial Tournament in Red Lodge Friday and Saturday, Dec. 10-11. The Scotties will play Red Lodge at 6:30 p.m. on Friday and take on Joliet at 5 p.m. on Saturday.
