Scotties Speech Sweep at Home

Glasgow hosted their one and only Speech and Drama meet this past Saturday for schools across the region. The Scotties took first place in Speech Sweeps with a total of 75 points. First-year head coach Kristina McGee said, "It was a great day for the Glasgow Scotties!"

The Scotties took four first places, two seconds, one third and one eighth place finishes.

Harley Edwards earned a first place finish in Dramatic Oral Interpretation. Samantha Combs took first place in Humorous Oral Interpretation. Chase Tarum competed in Spontaneous Oral Interpretation and also earned a first place finish. Mason Swenson took first place in Memorized Public Address.

Raelee Dowden took second place in Dramatic Oral Interpretation and Connor Whitmer earned second in Spontaneous Oral Interpretation.

Gabe Proctor came in third place in Humorous Oral Interpretation and Hailee Richardson rounded out the team with her eighth place finish in the same category.

This was the second meet of the year for the Scotties, who opened their season in Billings Nov. 6. "None of the students placed in the top 8 [in Billings]," McGee said. "They all, however, did an amazing job at competing at a super competitive level as they went up against students at the AA, A, and B-C levels."

Five Scotties made the trek to Billings. Fynn Sukut competed in Impromptu; Richardson, Proctor and Kai Combs in Humorous Oral Interpretation, and Edwards in Dramatic Oral Interpretation.

The Scotties will next compete this Saturday, Nov. 20, at the Malta Invitational.
