The Mavericks added three wins to their conference record this past week, defeating Frazer, Savage and Fairview. "This should help us move up in the standings and prepare us for the end of the season," said head coach Charlene Wasson, who highlighted her team's improvement over the games.

Friday, North Country hosted Frazer in Hinsdale where the home team won in three sets. "Frazer is new to varsity volleyball so this match was a good opportunity to focus on a few things. One we tried to spot serve more in this match and in the third set the JV players got to finish it out for us," Wasson said. "It is good to play teams like this because they have the element of surprise. You never really can tell where the ball is going so it keeps you on your toes."

On Saturday the team hit the road for a doubleheader against Savage and Fairview where the team received a taste of tournament-style play with two matches in one day. "We left early in the morning and got back late but all in all, this was a great day for Maverick volleyball. We really started to click and come together in these two matches," Wasson said. "I was happy to see our free ball passing and defensive passing is coming around and getting better to where we have a faster flow on offensive attacks. We are trying different attacks and making adjustments better on defense."
