Autumn is in the Air

Adventures in St. Marie

We got to noticing the other day that it was getting later a lot earlier now and came to realize that it was the beginning of Fall.

The first day of Fall this year, was on Sept. 22 and, yes, it changes from year to year.

It is called the Fall Equinox. But that only applies to the Northern Hemisphere. It is the beginning of Spring in the Southern Hemisphere. So if you like Spring over Fall, go South young man/woman.

So there we were, over at Flip Burger's restaurant, love that place, when we heard an unmistakable laugh that we have not heard for a long time coming form the adjacent table. Sitting there with her two friends was St. Marie's Honorary and most honorable Mayor, Ms. Phyllis Huston.

Actually she should be mayor since she has been at the old AFB for well over 40 years and knows everyone and all that goes on there.

Now here is a lady that is a pleasure to talk to and just to be around at anytime. She was smiling so big that I actually thought that her ears were gonna start bleeding.

I walked over and received a big hug from her. I asked what she was up to on this weekend so far away from St. Marie, and she giddily said that her and her two lady friends, Mary Ann Price and Lori Pultz, were on there way to the Glasgow Senior Center to play bingo.

I asked Phyllis if I could help carry her winnings back to St. Marie, and was pleasantly but emphatically told "NO"!

Bummer, but I tried.

Ghosts

Ghosts are everywhere at Fort Buford!

It's finally here! The information we have been waiting for on the wonderful Halloween Cemetery Walk that the Fort puts on every year!

Not only will they have "ghosts" telling their stories of how they died in the cemetery, there will be ghosts in the barracks and at the Field Officer's Quarters!

This is a very big event that they put on and they have hundreds of people come. The actors dress up in period costumes and have lanterns of that period. It truly is a part of the American history set back in the 1800's.

This will be on Saturday, October 23rd from 6:00 CT (Central Time-one hour ahead of our time) and will end at 8:00 CT.

We're going! See you there!

Car and Air Show

On Saturday, Sept. 18, we were at the air and car show at the Glasgow airport and wanted to thank Cape Air for the refreshments they served to anyone who wanted a bite to eat.

We also went to the face painting station where the cutest little munchkin was getting his face painted! His name, Cooper Redfield and Grandma Alice Redfield was watching as he was so patient as his face was being painted.
