Milk River Days Rodeo Thrills in Hinsdale

The Hinsdale Rodeo served up a dose of traditional Americana for the annual Milk River Days event Saturday Night. American flags and country music set the stage for a western tradition. Anna Brown and Blake Ozark kicked off the events with a trick riding demonstration thrilling the crowd with their daring acrobatics.

Local favorite Chisolm Christensen kept the crowd going by winning the saddle bronc riding with a score of 61, before heading downtown where he continued to entertain crowds with a musical performance.

Jack Cornwell won the tie-down roping competition with an unofficial time of 21.05. Blayne Hubing placed second and Trevor Klind took third. Rylan Mitchell and Brody Riggs tied for first in the Ranch Bronc event, each with a score of 68.

In team roping, Dennis Donavan and Tucker Hould claimed the top slot. Chris Barthlemess placed with two teams, taking a different position on each. He earned second with Dave Wolde and teamed up with Randy Taylor for third.

In one of the most thrilling events of the hot and dry evening, Witt Ozark, Roan Korman and Stetson Brendt won the Wild Pony Calcutta. Brendt was the only youth who was able to mount a pony despite some heroic efforts by the other two teams.

Georgia Orahood won the Ladies Breakaway competition with an unofficial time of 13.03 after being penalized with a +10 for "a speeding ticket" in the words of announcer Myron Malnaa. Ellie Meeks, who was also ticketed, took second with a time of 14.70. Blake Ozark won the Junior Breakaway event.

The winners of the bull riding competition were the bulls themselves, as no cowboy managed to stay on an animal for the time necessary for a qualified ride. The six contestants went home empty handed.

Results for Ladies and Junior Barrel Racing were not available at press time.
