Scottie Golfers Advance to State

For the first time in many years, the Glasgow Scottie golfers sent both teams to the state competition. Under the stewardship of first-year-in-action head coach Todd Truscott, the boys claimed second place at divisionals in Shelby last week and the girls notched a third place finish. The teams were in Billings on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week for the State B tournament at Eaglerock (results were not available at press time).

The fickle Montana spring weather threw a number of challenges at the golfers, including a lightning delay, during the day. "It kinda took the fun right out of it," chuckled Rance Rhoads. The Glasgow junior said the tournament was not his best showing, but that he was looking forward to the State tournament. Rhoads shot a 105 and claimed 24th place.

Leading the Scottie boys again was Riley Smith, who finished in third place with a score of 82. Eli Feezell finished in 14th after shooting a 97. Keigan Ingram shot a 98 and tied for 15. Vinny Chapppell shot a 109 to tie for 25th place. Glasgow finished in second place behind Conrad. Cut Bank took third and Malta was in fourth place.

The Glasgow girls took third, behind Shelby in first and Conrad in second. Malta took fourth place. Bailee Baxter shot a 116 to finish in 11th place. Shanice Lagerquist finished in 14th with a 120. Allie Palm and Kylie Lagerquist both shot a 136 and tied for 18th place. Elle Stone finished in 21st with a 143 score.

Smith and Feezell earned All-Conference recognition in the boys' competition, and Baxter and S. Lagerquist received All-Conference recognition on the girls' side.
