Serving Proudly As The Voice Of Valley County Since 1913

Glasgow School District Board Members Sworn In

Will Serve Throughout 2020-2021

Angie Page has been chosen as Glasgow School District Board chair. She succeeds Mona Amundson, who is now vice-chair.

In addition, Ryan Fast and Chrissa Nelson were duly elected to the board of trustees by acclamation because there were no opposing candidates.

Angie was previously elected to the board in January 2020, months prior to the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.

"It was hard, because there was so much at the beginning of my term last year where we were dealing with problems and issues and trying to figure out a plan to get everybody back in the building. That was what was most important to us was to have kids [attend school] in person with their teachers where they would be best served."

Looking forward to a post-pandemic landscape, Page said she is looking forward to guiding the district towards new objectives.

"I am really looking forward to strategic planning with the staff, with the administration, and putting down some goals to work toward for the district. I am looking forward to operating in a post-COVID environment, hopefully, where we can really move forward instead of having to deal with problems as they come up. Really, looking to the future to meet goals and expectations and to do the very best we can for kids."

During the regular board meeting May 12, Chrissa Nelson was sworn in as board member.

This is Nelson's first time serving on a school board. She grew up in Opheim.

Her father, Dale Tarum, also was a board member, and she was involved with school governance as a high school student.

"I sat in on school board meetings as student council president when I was a senior," Nelson said. "It piqued my interest in school boards. It was something I had in the back of my head. The opportunity presented itself and I am interested in serving the kids and the community. Hopefully, I do a great job."

Chrissa is married to Jayson Nelson, who is a lineman for NorVal Electric Cooperative. They have three school-aged kids Cameron, Austin and Cora.

Chrissa has worked at FMDH for 16 years as a registered nurse.
