Wolf Point Freshmen/Sophomore Showcases Fresh Talent

Wolf Point played host to the Freshman/Sophomore Invite on April 27, giving first-year high school tracksters to compete directly against each other. Hinsdale, Lustre Christian, Nashua and Frazer all sent athletes who put their teams on the scoreboard.

Hinsdale finished fourth in the women's competition, with 55 points, behind Scobey, 148; Wolf Point, 92 and Culbertson, 70.5. Lustre Christian finished fifth with 36; Trinity Christian sixth with 34; Nashua had 24 points for seventh; Dodson took eighth with 1.5 and Frazer finished out the board in ninth place with one point.

On the men's side, Lustre Christian claimed fifth with 62 points, behind Scobey, 113; Wolf Point, 74; Culbertson, 72 and Trinity Christian, 69. Nashua placed sixth with 17 points, Dodson was seventh with 8, and Hinsdale placed eighth with four points.

Lustre's Jasiah Hambira won the men's 100 meter dash in 12.03, a personal record. In the women's 100m, Lustre's Alexa Redding took third with her time of 14.05 and Hinsdale's Mattea McColly set a personal record and placed fourth with her time of 14.65. Hambira also won the 200m in 24.42 to take first place. Aubri Holzrichter, Lustre, placed fourth in the women's 200m, finishing in 31.07, a personal record. Hambira completed his sweep of the men's sprints, winning the 400m in 56.26. Holzrichter took fifth in the women's 400m with her personal record of 1:11.36.

Hinsdale's Cienna Strommen set a personal best in the 800m and placed third with her time of 3:21.17. Her teammate, Andrew Bocher placed fourth in the men's competition, finishing in 2:42.92, finishing behind Lustre's Cayden Klatt, who ran the event in 2:39.54 for third place. Klatt placed fourth in the men's 1600m with his time of 5:45.52. Hinsdale's Zora Holt and Kodi Boone took third and sixth in the women's 1600m, finishing in 7:09.99 and 7:57.33, respectively. Holt took second in the women's 3200m, running the event in 14:26.00.

In field events, Nashua's Tia Dees won the shot put with a throw of 29-06.75. Hinsdale's Mattea McColly took fourth with a throw of 26-04.00 and Frazer's Angel Nelligan sent a personal record and placed sixth with her throw of 24-02.25. Dees also won the discus with a throw of 87-07, while McColly took second with a distance of 76-01. Strommen placed third in the javelin with her throw of 79-09, with Dees in fourth with a distance of 78-06. On the men's side, Klatt placed fifth in the discus with his throw of 81-01.

Hambira won the men's high jump with a height of 5-10, while Nashua's Xander Pugh and Kevan Viste took third and fourth, respectively. Pugh cleared 5-02 and Viste cleared 5-00, a personal record. Hambira took first in the long jump with a distance of 18-10 and Pugh placed sixth with his jump of 16-01. Pugh took third in the triple jump with a distance of 33-07. In the women's long jump, Redding took second with a distance of 13-07 and Holzrichter took fourth with a distance of 12-09.50.
